Staff and Family Tour registration is open
Public Affairs is hosting the quarterly Staff and Family Tour Dec. 9. Personnel and family members are encouraged to get a behind-the-scenes look into the Schriever mission. Children older than 8 are invited. Contact the PA office at 567-5040 to register before Dec. 2. Space is limited.

 

Shred truck comes to Schriever
The shred truck is coming for all of your shred needs, office, personal or home shredding - bring it all.  They will be here from 9 – 11 a.m. Thursday, in the restricted area, and 9 – 11 a.m. Friday, in front of Building 210.

50 SW IG announces closures

The 50th Space Wing Inspector General office will be closed Friday for an official function.

Schriever housing offers family Christian fellowship  

A family Bible study will be held at the Tierra Vista Community Center 6:30-8 p.m. every Wednesday. Come join us for inspiring worship, Bible study and prayer. Families are welcome. Childcare and separate kids activities for 10 and under provided. For more information, contact 567-3705.

 

Schriever housing hosts women’s Bible study 

Come join us for a women’s Bible study held 9:30 – 11 a.m. every Tuesday at the Tierra Vista Community Center. There will be fellowship, Bible study and conversations about today's critical issues from a Christian perspective. For more information, call the chapel at 567-3705.

 

Schriever lights Christmas Tree
The holiday season is right around the corner, and with that comes the annual base tradition to light the Christmas Tree. Please join us 5 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Building 210 courtyard. Santa will make a special appearance and there will be cookies and hot chocolate for all. Bring the entire family. If the weather is unfavorable, the ceremony will take place inside the Building 210 atrium. For more information, or to volunteer for this event, contact your chapel staff at 567-3705.

50 FSS announces closures
The Airmen and Family Readiness Center, Child Development Center and School Age Program, coffee shop, Outdoor Rec, and Framing and Engraving will be closed Nov. 24 and 25. The Fitness Center will be closed Nov. 24. The A&FRC, CDC & SAP, coffee shop, fitness center, Framing & Engraving, Outdoor Rec and the Satellite Dish have special Holiday hours Nov. 21 - 23. 50 CPTS announces closures

The 50th Comptroller Squadron is closed for training the second Tuesday of each month starting in November. Upcoming dates include: Dec. 13, Jan. 10, 2017, Feb. 14, 2017 and Mar. 14, 2017.

 

AFSPC/CV calls for max participation in safety survey
Maj. Gen. David Thompson has called for all Air Force Space Command personnel to participate in the ongoing Air Force Combined Mishap Reduction Survey. AFCMRS is a tool designed to tabulate anonymous, candid feedback regarding safety cultural trends, enabling leaders to identify risk factors within unit programs. Unit safety representatives will assist their respective units with completing this survey. For more information, contact wing safety at 567-SAFE (7233).

 

EO career field open for retraining

The Equal Opportunity career field is looking for Airmen and NCOs wishing to join. EO is currently seeking approximately 20 first term Airmen between now and July 1, 2017, for retraining. Scheduling for NCO retraining will occur at a later date. Salvation Army needs Thanksgiving Day volunteers
The Salvation Army is hosting its annual Thanksgiving Day meal.  They need volunteers to deliver meals and provide transportation to those who would like to have a meal at their facility (908 Yuma St.).  We are asking for 50 volunteers to cover the event from approximately 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. This is a great way to give back to the community and spend the holiday with your Air Force family.  Contact Staff Sgt. 50 SW hosts holiday party

50 SW seeks holiday party lip sync battle teams

Think you have what it takes to be the next lip sync sensation? Well here is your chance.  We are now accepting entries for the Lip Sync Challenge going down at this year’s 50th Space Wing Holiday Party Dec. 2. We’re looking for four teams with up to five members to compete for the title of “50 SW Lip Sync Champion.” There is also going to be a final head-to-head competition with the winners taking home the grand prize.  Song appropriate attire and props are encouraged and two songs are needed for the head-to-head challenge. Military Retirees Activities Office holds monthly luncheon 

The Military Retiree Activities office holds a luncheon at noon the second Thursday of each month at the Peterson Air Force Base Club, followed by its monthly council meeting at 2:30 p.m. in Building 350, Room 1206.  The guest speaker for Dec. 8 will be Clint Evans and his companion dog “Leo.” Please call 719-556-7153 for more information.

 

Society opens door to military widows   

The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets 10:30 a.m. the last Wednesday of the month at the Peterson Air Force Base club. Academy cadet sponsor program looking for volunteers

The U.S. Air Force Academy is looking for volunteer sponsor families to build a professional mentoring relationship and provide a home-away-from-home for cadets. The program needs about 180 families to sponsor cadets. Sponsors must be at least O-3 for officers, E-6 for enlisted and GS-05 for civilian. The program is designed to provide new cadets mentorship, offering active-duty and retired military personnel and civilians in the community an opportunity to mentor cadets on a permanent basis for their time at the Academy.
