This pilot had eight MiG victories in the Korean War. In 1953, he was assigned to the 50th Fighter-Bomber Wing, 81st Fighter-Bomber Squadron, and played a primary role in moving the wing’s F-86 aircraft to Hahn Air Base, Germany. Later he led the 67th Tactical Fighter Squadron in combat operations in Vietnam. He was shot down in his F-105D Thunderchief and spent seven years as a prisoner of war. He is one of only four Airmen to receive multiple awards of the Air Force Cross. Who was this pilot? He is Brig. Gen. James Robinson Risner.
