Peterson North Gate changes hours

The Peterson Air Force Base North Gate is now under new hours:

Weekdays – 6 - 9 a.m. with the outbound lanes reopening from 2:30 - 6 p.m. to facilitate traffic leaving the base.

The east and west gate hours will remain the same.


Ellicott school leadership hosts AP program discussion

Schriever parents are invited to join a discussion with Ellicott school leadership concerning the possible reduction in Advanced Placement class offerings at Ellicott High School 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the multipurpose room at the Tierra Vista Community Center. SAAPR to host base activates

The Schriever Air Force Base Sexual Assault Awareness, Prevention and Response team will be hosting a series of events throughout the base in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month.


Friday – Tiki smoothie bar 3 - 5:30 p.m. at the Child Development Center.

April 18 - Pinwheel parade and ice cream social 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. at the CDC.

April 20 - The Eighth Annual Schriever AFB Dodgeball Tournament 9 a.m. in the fitness center.

April 27 – Foam bullet battle 9 a.m. for adults 3 p.m. for kids in the Indoor Running Track.

Building 300 auditorium closure
The Building 300 auditorium will not be available due to equipment installations. Completion date is to be determined. To reserve other conference rooms, call multimedia customer service at 567-5090. When scheduling an event, call one week in advance.


AFAF seeks donations

The Air Force Assistance Fund is now taking contributions to be funneled into the Air Force's four major charities: Air Force Air Society, Air Force Enlisted Village, Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation and the Gen. and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation. Payroll Deduction Plan allotments and cash are the two ways to contribute. Cash includes U.S. currency, personal checks, money orders, cashier’s checks, endorsed traveler's checks or other redeemable instruments. Active and Reserve Component Airmen may allot for three to 12 months. Retiree allotments are all for 12 months. In addition to giving through the AFAF campaign, members may choose to give via credit card donations on the individual charities web sites. Non-commissioned Officer Association recruitment

The Non-commissioned Officer Association Air Academy Chapter is recruiting. It's a great opportunity to meet former chiefs and make a difference in the community. Meetings occur every third Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Palmer Room at The Club at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. El Paso County issues burn restrictions
El Paso County has issued Stage 1 burn restrictions which prohibits the following:
- Open burning except in permanent structures in developed campgrounds and picnic grounds or in private residences in areas cleared of all flammable materials.
- The sale use of fireworks.
- Outdoor smoking except in an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or in an area 3 feet in diameter that is clear of all flammable material.

Mental Health Clinic now accepting new patients

The Schriever Mental Health Clinic now accepts patients. You can schedule an appointment by calling 567-4619.   



AAFES changes hours

The Schriever Air Force Base Express will be open 5 a.m. – 10 p.m. every day. The new hours will last for a 60-day trial period, ending Wednesday. 



Legal Office changes operating hours

The 50th Space Wing Legal Office is closed daily from 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.  If you have a deployment-related issue or need to contact a member of the staff, call 567-5050 for assistance. 



Physical Therapist Clinic open

Schriever Air Force Base’s physical therapist clinic is open. Clinic hours are 7:30 - 11 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. In order to be seen by the clinic, you must have a referral from your primary care manager. For more information, contact the Peterson Air Force Base physical therapy clinic at 556-1075.



Tricare beneficiaries

If you had a referral/authorization for service prior to Jan. 1 that dropped off or Health Net (the new Tricare regional contractor) is not seeing, you can visit  to retrieve your authorization. This website will expire June 30.



MetroRides Van Pool provides openings

MetroRides Vanpool is a government subsidized program for all Department of Defense Civil Service employees and active duty military. There is no out of pocket expense for DoD vanpool participants.  Contractors may also participate. The route starts at the Safeway shopping center parking lot in Fountain, departing at 6:05 a.m. and arriving at Schriever Air Force Base at 6:30 a.m. The vanpool departs Schriever AFB at 4 p.m. and arrives back at Safeway at 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. Schriever choir Orbital Harmony auditions

The Schriever Air Force Base choir performance group, Orbital Harmony, will be conducting auditions to fill vacant spots for the spring and summer 2018 performance season. All positions are currently open (soprano, alto, tenor and bass). Any experience level is welcome. Auditions will be conducted by appointment at Building T135, west of the fitness center. Participation in Orbital Harmony can be used towards qualification for the United States Air Force Volunteer Ribbon. For more details or to schedule an audition, contact A. 2018 Green Dot Program refresher class registration

Webster University offers classes

Webster University is back on Schriever in the First Term Airman Center, Building 210, Room 310. This is available for anyone thinking about attending school, to register, discuss current programs or any other administration need. Webster offers classes on Peterson Air Force Base in the Education Center and also a large variety of online classes. For more information, contact Bill Houth at 574-7562.



Pharmacy OTC medication program 

The 21st Medical and Dental Squadron pharmacy has an over-the-counter medication program available to all active duty, dependents and retirees enrolled at Schriever and Peterson Air Force Bases. This does not include personnel who are on flying status, Personnel Reliability Program status, Arming and Use of Force, pregnant, breastfeeding or tasked for deployment. Eligible beneficiaries are able to visit the pharmacy without an appointment and may select up to three OTC medications from a preselected list. Pharmacy hours are 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. For more information, contact Capt. Kyle Smith at 567-4423.

Lactation rooms available

New moms, there are dedicated lactation rooms inside the Restricted Area, Buildings 24, 210, 300, 400 and 730. These rooms provide dedicated space for lactation and will assist with successful breastfeeding while serving at Schriever.

TA mass briefing, one-on-one education counseling available

Tuition assistance briefing followed by education counseling is now offered the last Wednesday of the month in Building 210, Room 310. Mass TA Counseling is held 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. and one-on-one education counseling at 9:30 a.m. Appointments are preferred but walk-ins are welcome. To sign up, call Master Sgt. Logistics planner retraining opportunities

Schriever AFB Teens and Kids Helping Kids Spring Food Drive

The annual Schriever Air Force Base Teens and Kids Helping Kids Spring Food Drive will be held in front of the Peterson Air Force commissary 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday. All donations collected will go directly to the Ellicott Helping Hands Food Pantry which not only serves Ellicott and Peyton, but Schriever AFB as well.  For more information, email Lisa Kosiewicz Doran at



Ellicott Elementary hosts field day 

Ellicott Elementary School will be hosting its annual field day event 8:20 a.m. - 12 p.m. May 21 - 23 at the school track. This three day tradition celebrates the school's yearly achievements, hard work and farewell to the fifth grade class as they transition to middle school. Volunteers from Schriever Air Force Base are needed. Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Laura Durst at 719-683-2700.



Society of Military Widows holds meeting

The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets on the last Wednesday of the month, 10:30 a.m. at The Club at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. Military Retirees Activities Office

The Military Retiree Activities office holds its monthly council meeting the second Thursday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at The Club at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. The guest speaker for Thursday will be Maile Gray, who will speak about Drive Smart. Call 556-7153 for more information.




Little Rookies intro free program

Little Rookies' Junior Rookie ice sessions are held at Monument Ice Rinks on Saturday mornings to focus on helping beginners, ages 3-8, find their love for the game of hockey. Teaching basic skills and hockey etiquette, offering equipment and no entry fee, Little Rookies is the best place to get your child started in hockey. The programs are ran by National Hockey League Alumni Al Pendersen (Boston Bruins, Minnesota North Stars, Hartford Whalers). For more information, contact Staff Sgt. Cub Scout troops seeks recruits

Fort Carson DLA announces services
Disposition Services Colorado Springs, located in Building 324, 1475 Wickersham Boulevard, Fort Carson, conducts orientations by appointment. The orientations discuss disposition services/processes to include turning in excess property, reutilizing government property, available web-based tools, special handling of property and environmental needs.

TAPS looking for service members

The Tragedy Assistance Program will host a survivor seminar and is in need of active duty service members to pair with a child during their journey of grief, helping them gain coping skills in a supportive environment.
