Falcon Parkway repairs

Falcon Parkway will be reduced to single-lane access until Sept. 12. The traffic circle will be unaffected by construction. For more information, contact Staff Sgt. Marquis Williams at 567-4323.

Colorado Springs Sports Corp seeking volunteers

The Colorado Springs Sports Corporation is looking for volunteers for the 2018 Rocky Mountain State Games. The event will be held Friday - Sunday in Colorado Springs. The Rocky Mountain State Games is Colorado's largest multi-sport festival for athletes of all ages and athletic abilities including those with physical disabilities or visual impairment. More than 10,000 athletes are expected to participate and more than 900 volunteers are needed to successfully run this event. The need for volunteers varies by sport, but may be needed for a variety of tasks including athlete check-in, information booths, scoring, timing, hospitality and other activities. NASA Astronauts, Dr. Peggy Whitson and Col. Jack D. Fischer, will visit Schriever
Dr. Peggy Whitson and Col. Jack D. Fischer, NASA astronauts, will visit the Satellite Dish dining facility July 31 from 12:15 – 12:45 p.m. to sign autographs. Whitson has performed a total of ten spacewalks, adding up to 60 hours and 21 minutes. Throughout her career, she has spent a total of 665 days in space, the most for any U.S. astronaut. Fischer is an Air Force pilot with over 3,000 flight hours in more than 45 aircraft and has logged 136 days in space with two spacewalks. Everyone with base access is welcome to attend.

Airman’s Council to host wing promotion ceremony

The monthly promotion ceremony will be held 3 p.m. July 31 at the base fitness center. For more information, contact Senior Airman Danielle Singleton at 567-5035. 

A&FRC to host hiring fairs

The Airman and Family Readiness Center will host defense, information technology, cyber, and intel hiring fairs 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. July 31 in the event center at Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, and 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Club at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. Logistics planner retraining opportunities
The Air Force Logistics Plans specialty is continually seeking enlisted personnel to retrain as logistics planners (2G0X1). For more information, contact Ed Smith at 567-3082.

CNODP roadshow to be held

The Computer Network Operations Development Program is a three year development program at the National Security Agency in Fort Meade, Maryland. This involves $400,000 of training over four months, followed by tours across the NSA. The goal is to produce an elite cadre of Air Force technical leaders that can create effects in any domain via the application of cyber capabilities. A CNODP roadshow will be held at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 1 on the second floor of Building 300. For more information, contact Capt. Sam McCabe at 567-4010.

Shred truck available at Schriever

The shred truck will be outside of the Restricted Area North Portal from 9 – 11 a.m. and outside of Building 210 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Aug. 15. Please bring items from your office or home for shredding. For more information, contact Senior Airman Bianca Alonzo at 567-6598.

Legal Office changes operating hours
The 50th Space Wing Legal Office is closed daily from 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. The office will also be closed 7:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. every Thursday. If you have a deployment-related issue or need to contact a member of the staff, call 567-5050 for assistance. 

Schriever to honor days of remembrance
The Schriever Air Force Base Remembrance Day will be held August 9 from 8 – 9:30 a.m. at the fitness center. Volunteers are needed for set-up and tear-down. For more information, contact 1st Lt. Rachel Rivera at 567-4686.

2018 Green Dot Program refresher class registration

The Schriever Clinic will be closed the following dates/times:

MetroRides Vanpool provides openings

MetroRides Vanpool is a government subsidized program for all Department of Defense Civil Service employees and active duty military. There is no out of pocket expense for DoD vanpool participants. Contractors may also participate. The route starts at the Safeway shopping center parking lot in Fountain, Colorado, departing at 6:05 a.m. and arriving at Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, at 6:30 a.m. The vanpool departs Schriever AFB at 4 p.m. and arrives back at Safeway at 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. TAPS to host Good Grief Camp

The Tragedy Assistance Program will host a Good Grief Camp Sept. 8 – 9 in Denver, Colorado. Children are able to share and learn coping skills through games, crafts and other activities in a fun and supportive environment. Each child is paired with a military mentor who reminds the child that he or she is still a part of the military community. Mentors need to be available 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. Sept. 8 and 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Sept. 9. Lodging accommodations are available for those who reside more than 45 miles from the event. Noncommissioned Officer Association recruitment

The Noncommissioned Officer Association Air Academy Chapter is recruiting. It's a great opportunity to meet former chiefs and make a difference in the community. The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank. Military Retirees Activities Office
The Military Retiree Activities Office holds its monthly council meeting the second Thursday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at The Club at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado.
