Peterson AFB presents TSP training

The Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado, Airman and Family Readiness Center will present the Mei Shan Josephine Krammer and Stewart Kaplan Thrift Savings Plan training at the Building 1440 auditorium at Peterson, AFB, Colorado, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Thursday. This is open to all military service branches. There will be limited seating. To reserve a seat for the event, call 556-6141. 

 

Diversity Day to begin 

Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, will host its 2018 Diversity Day event, highlighting different cultures under the theme of “united in differences” 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday in the Indoor Running Track. The Tuskegee Airmen demonstatrtion will begin at 9:15 a.m. Admission is free for all valid Department of Defense cardholders. There will be free food, entertainment and demonstrations from more than 10 cultures and ethnic groups. For more information, call the 50th Space Wing Equal Opportunity office at 567-7096.

 

SNCO Induction Ceremony

The Colorado Front Range Senior Noncommissioned Officer Induction Ceremony will take place at the Arnold Hall Ballroom at The United States Air Force Academy, Colorado, Friday. The medallion ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. and the ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. The guest speaker for the event will be Lt. Gen. Jay Silveria. Falcon Parkway repairs

Falcon Parkway will be reduced to single-lane access until Sept. 12. The traffic circle will be unaffected by construction. For more information, contact Staff Sgt. Marquis Williams at 567-4323.

2018 Green Dot Program refresher class registration

Annual Green Dot Refresher Classes occur 2 - 3 p.m. Tuesdays, and 8 - 9 a.m. Fridays in the Building 300 Auditorium. All classes must be completed by Oct. 31. PA giving away furniture

The Public Affairs office is giving away office furniture to include a conference room table, chairs and desks of various styles, a credenza and shelving. For more information about pickup, call 567-5040.

 

AFOSI to host counter-intelligence awareness briefings

The Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, Air Force Office of Special Investigations will conduct counter-intelligence awareness briefings on the first and third Wednesday of every month in the Building 300 auditorium. Briefings will be at 1 p.m. on the first Wednesday and 8 a.m. on the third Wednesday of the month. No registration is necessary, and sign in sheets will be provided at each briefing. TVC to host town hall

Voluntary Leave Transfer Program - Robert Bruce

Robert Bruce has been approved for the Voluntary Leave Transfer Program due to a current medical condition. If you would like to donate leave to him, you can complete the OPM 630-A, request to donate annual leave to leave recipient under the VLTP (within agency) http://www.opm.gov/FORMS/PDF_FILL/opm630a.pdf or https://www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/opm630b.pdf (outside agency). Legal Office changes operating hours

The 50th Space Wing Legal Office is closed daily from 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. The office will also be closed 7:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. every Thursday. If you have a deployment-related issue or need to contact a member of the staff, call 567-5050 for assistance. 

 

Legal office court requirement

Before appearing and/or testifying in court in their unofficial capacity, all Air Force members are required to meet with the legal office. For more information, call 567-5050.

MetroRides Vanpool provides openings

MetroRides Vanpool is a government subsidized program for all Department of Defense Civil Service employees and active duty military. There is no out of pocket expense for DoD vanpool participants. Contractors may also participate. The route starts at the Safeway shopping center parking lot in Fountain, Colorado, departing at 6:05 a.m. and arriving at Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, at 6:30 a.m. The vanpool departs Schriever AFB at 4 p.m. and arrives back at Safeway at 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. TAPS to host Good Grief Camp

The Tragedy Assistance Program will host a Good Grief Camp Sept. 8 – 9 in Denver, Colorado. Children are able to share and learn coping skills through games, crafts and other activities in a fun and supportive environment. Each child is paired with a military mentor who reminds the child that he or she is still a part of the military community. Mentors need to be available 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. Sept. 8 and 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Sept. 9. Lodging accommodations are available for those who reside more than 45 miles from the event. All meals are provided Sept. 8 and breakfast and lunch will be provided Sept. 9. If you have any questions about how you can volunteer, contact Melissa Hermosillo at 915-780-3344. Noncommissioned Officer Association recruitment

The Noncommissioned Officer Association Air Academy Chapter is recruiting. It's a great opportunity to meet former chiefs and make a difference in the community. Meetings occur every third Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Palmer Room at The Club at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. Society of Military Widows holds meeting

The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets on the last Wednesday of the month, 10:30 a.m. at The Club at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. USAFA to host Farish Recreation Area Walk

The United States Air Force Academy Outdoor Recreation Center and the Falcon Wanderers Walking Club invite you to the Farish Recreation Area Walk Sept. 22. The walk will start at the Conference Center at 12005 Rampart Range Road, Woodland Park. This event is free and open to the public. Register to walk any time between 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. with a finish time by 3 pm.  Large-wheeled strollers can complete the courses with difficulty, but wheelchairs are not recommended. Bratwurst, hot dogs, chips and drinks will be available for purchase. For more information, contact Amanda Burkhart at 333-4475.
