Health Promotion Activities

Bodpod walk-in hours are changed to 7:30-8:45 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays

Military Personnel Flight

The Military Personnel Flight will be closed Monday due to an official function. Any questions can be directed to the Force Support Squadron Superintendent at 719-330-5504.

 

Injury Compensation Training Course

The Air Force Personnel Center is conducting on-site training on Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, June 6, for the Worker’s Compensation Program and the electronic Employees’ Compensation Operations and Management Portal.  To allow for maximum participation across all work shifts, three different training sessions and times are available 6 – 7:15 a.m. in the Building 210, room 310, 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. and 2 – 4 p.m. in the Building 300 auditorium; all three sessions will provide identical information for all employees attending.

To receive a certificate, you must register in myETMS through AFPC and not through Civilian Personnel.  Seating is limited to 30 participants for the 6 – 7:15 a.m. session; there is no limit to the 730-9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. sessions.

The training class is designed to familiarize and prepare all employees with knowledge to assist federal workers injured while on duty.  It provides all employees with a working knowledge of the program fundamentals so the proper actions can be taken when an employee is injured on the job.  All employees play a critical role in the workers' compensation process, including making the initial notification and determination of the facts pertaining to an on-the-job injury.

 

Continuous Process Improvement Green Belt Class

Schriever Air Force Base will host a Continuous Process Improvement Green Belt class Tuesday - Friday in Building 210, Room 310A from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. The medical simulation exercise will only allow 17 people to participate. Running trail repairs

The running trail, located north of the fitness center, is under repair until June 28. The 50th Civil Engineer Squadron is conducting the repairs due to damage caused by erosion.  During these repairs, portions of the running trail will be closed for safety purposes.  Closed areas will be identified with cones and signs.  We ask all users comply with closures to help ensure personal safety.  Questions can be directed to Mike Rosseau at 567-5092.

 

Staff and Family Tour

Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, personnel and their family members are invited on a Staff and Family Tour from 11:45 a.m. – 4 p.m. June 14. All tour stops are inside the Restricted Area, and will start with lunch at the DISH. Space is limited, so it’s first come, first served. Children are welcome, however, most of the tour may be too technical to keep the attention of small children, and the tour will include stairs and standing with limited room, so strollers cannot be accommodated. The deadline to sign up is June 10. If interested, RSVP to 50SWPA.WORKFLOW@us.af.mil (Subject: Staff and Family Tour) or call the 50th Space Wing Public Affairs office at 567-5040. Please be prepared to provide the following information for all guests 18 or older: 1.) Name (as it appears on their drivers license), 2.) Date of Birth, 3.) DL # and 4.) State of Issue. For those 17 and younger, we need first and last name, along with their age.

 

Schriever Choir: Orbital Harmony Auditions

The Schriever Air Force Base Choir performance group, Orbital Harmony, will conduct auditions to fill vacant spots for the Spring and Summer 2019 performance season. All positions are currently open (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass). Any experience level is welcome. Auditions will be conducted by appointment in the Building 210 Chapel Office. Participation in the Schriever AFB Choir can be used toward qualification for a volunteer ribbon. For more details or to schedule an audition, contact Allen Neal Vickrey at 721-9280.

 

50th Operations Support Squadron Change of Command

New Personnel and Manpower Hours

The Manpower and Personnel Offices have changed customer service hours.  The new hours are 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The office will be open 1 – 4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.

 

Legal Office Weekly Briefings

The 50th Space Wing Legal Office provides the following briefings Fridays:

Article 137 re-enlistment briefing – 8 a.m.

Deployment briefings - 9 a.m.

Legal office court requirement: Before appearing and/or testifying in court in their unofficial capacity, all Air Force members are required to meet with the legal office.

Logistics planner retraining opportunities

KMC to provide training

The Knowledge Management Center is providing reoccurring training/classes for the Knowledge Management programs. Classes are held in Building 301, Room 119, every first Thursday of the month. Records Management is held 12 - 1:30 p.m. and Freedom of Information Privacy Act is held 1:45 –

3:15 p.m. Publications and Forms class is provided 1 - 3 p.m. every third Thursday of the month. For more information, contact 50th Space Wing Knowledge Management Center at 567-6001.

Off-base
 

Grilling Safety

- Use outdoors only, away from home, deck or overhanging branches.  Keep children and pets away

- Keep your grill clean by removing grease buildup from grills / trays below… never leave unattended

- Propane grill: Check for tight connection on tank hose / regulator; check for leaks with soap / water solution

- Charcoal grill:  Use chimney starters or charcoal fluid… never add fluid or other flammable liquids to fire

- Gas grill: If flame goes out, turn grill and gas off. Wait at least 5 minutes before re-lighting

- Allow adequate time for hot coals to cool or soak with water prior to disposal 

 

Military Retirees Activities Office

The Society of Military Widows

The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets on the last Wednesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. in The Club at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. Registration for the 2019 FA40 Training Forum is open

The U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command’s Army Space Personnel Development Office is scheduled to host  the 2019 Annual FA40 Training Forum Aug. 13 - 16 at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado.  

This year’s forum will take place in the main conference room of Building 920, where TS-SCI briefings are scheduled. 

Registration is open to all members of the Army Space Cadre.

The registration process is not complete without submission of a TS-SCI Visit Access Request, by the member’s organizational special security officer unless he/she possesses a current PAFB/SMDC green badge. VAR information is located on the registration page.
