DEOCS results outbrief

The 50th SW commander will hold a DEOCS outbrief Friday at the Fitness Center beginning at 11:00 to discuss the results of the DEOCS, all are encouraged to attend.

Motorcycle Mentorship Program Training

The 50th Space Wing is scheduled to host a motorcycle mentorship program training Friday. The training will start at the Schriever Air Force Base Shoppette at 8:00 a.m. and will include a two-hour ride. This event is open to anyone regardless of experience.

Health Promotion Activities

Bodpod walk-in hours are changed to 7:30-8:45 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays.

Please note through Friday, health promotion will be closed due to training. Peterson HP can be reached at 556-4292.

 

Funeral for Mrs. Tracy Wilson

There will be a funeral for Mrs. Tracy Wilson, wife of Lt. Col. Choate Wilson, at the Peterson Chapel, June 28 at 11 a.m.  All are welcome to attend to support our wingman through this difficult time. Uniform will be UOD and the family would appreciate if people would donate to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation Inc. in Tracy’s name in lieu of flowers (www.bcrfcure.org EIN 13-3727250).

School Physicals

The 21st Space Wing Medical Group is scheduled to have school physicals:

July 9, 18, 23 and 30

 

Appointments are also available the first two weeks in August. To book an appointment, call 524-CARE (2273).

 

 

Running Trail Repairs

 

The running trail, located north of the fitness center, is under repair until June 28. The 50th Civil Engineer Squadron is conducting the repairs due to damage caused by erosion.  During these repairs, portions of the running trail are closed for safety purposes.  Closed areas are identified with cones and signs.  We ask all users comply with closures to help ensure personal safety.  Direct questions to Mike Rosseau at 567-5092.

 

 

Schriever Choir: Orbital Harmony Auditions

The Schriever Air Force Base Choir performance group, Orbital Harmony, will conduct auditions to fill vacant spots for the spring and summer 2019 performance season. All positions are currently open (soprano, alto, tenor and bass). Any experience level is welcome. Auditions are conducted by appointment in Building 210, Chapel Office. Participation in the Schriever AFB Choir can be used toward qualification for a volunteer ribbon. For more details or to schedule an audition, contact Allen Neal Vickrey at 721-9280.

 

 

New Civilian Personnel Hours

The Civilian Personnel Office has new customer service hours: 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 1 - 4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.

 

Legal Office Weekly Briefings

The 50th Space Wing Legal Office provides the following briefings Fridays:

Article 137 re-enlistment briefing - 8 a.m.

Deployment briefings - 9 a.m.

Legal office court requirement: Before appearing and/or testifying in court in their unofficial capacity, all Air Force members are required to meet with the legal office. For more information, call 567-5050.

The Schriever Air Force Base clinic will close on the following dates/times:

Walk-in Services Offered Monday - Friday from 8 - 11 a.m. and 1 - 3 p.m. for the following:

Suture and Staple Removal (for ages 3 and older)

Sore Throat (for ages 3 and older)

Pregnancy Tests

Wound Care

Ear Wax Removal

Urinary Tract Infections (females only, 18 and older)

Note: Walk-in services end at 3 p.m. Normal clinic hours are 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. For emergencies, call 911. For appointments, call 524-CARE.

 

Logistics planner retraining opportunities

Knowledge Management Center Provides Training

The Knowledge Management Center is providing reoccurring training/classes for Knowledge Management programs. Classes are in Building 301, Room 119, every first Thursday of the month. Records Management is noon - 1:30 p.m., and Freedom of Information Privacy Act is 1:45 -

3:15 p.m. Publications and Forms class is 1 - 3 p.m. every third Thursday of the month. For more information, contact 50th Space Wing Knowledge Management Center at 567-6001.

Back to School

Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, is scheduled to host a back-to-school event at the Schriever AFB event center 9 - 11 a.m. July 30

The event will have:

Resource tables

United States Air Force Academy Falcon, Sparky, K9 and bus safety demonstrations.

The 50th Security Forces Squadron will have gear, weapons and a patrol car on display.

Representatives from Ellicot Schools will attend to help parents enroll their children into the school and meet the school’s leadership.

Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association Luncheon

The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association is scheduled to host a luncheon at the Peterson Air Force Base Club, at 11:30 a.m. June 27. This month’s guest speaker is Rich Burchfield, Catalyst Campus for Technology and Innovation executive director.

 

Grilling Safety

- Use outdoors only, away from home, deck or overhanging branches.  Keep children and pets away.

- Keep your grill clean by removing grease buildup from grills or trays below… never leave unattended.

- Propane grill: Check for tight connection on tank hose or regulator; check for leaks with soap/water solution.

- Charcoal grill:  Use chimney starters or charcoal fluid… never add fluid or other flammable liquids to fire.

- Gas grill: If flame goes out, turn grill and gas off. Wait at least 5 minutes before re-lighting.

- Allow adequate time for hot coals to cool or soak with water prior to disposal.

 

Military Retirees Activities Office

The Military Retiree Activities Office holds monthly council meetings the second Thursday of each month at 11:30 a.m. It will be at the Peterson Air Force Base Gold Course Club House, followed by lunch at 12:45 p.m. To sign up or for more information, call the Retiree Assistance Office at 556-7153.

 

The Society of Military Widows

The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets on the last Wednesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. in The Club at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. Registration for the 2019 FA40 Training Forum is open

The U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command’s Army Space Personnel Development Office is scheduled to host  the 2019 Annual FA40 Training Forum Aug. 13 - 16 at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado.  

This year’s forum will take place in the main conference room of Building 920, where TS-SCI briefings are scheduled. 

Registration is open to all members of the Army Space Cadre.

The registration process is not complete without submission of a TS-SCI Visit Access Request, by the member’s organizational special security officer unless he/she possesses a current PAFB/SMDC green badge. VAR information is located on the registration page.
