This Week

Team Schriever Staff Sergeant Release

The Team Schriever staff sergeant release party is scheduled for 3 p.m. Aug. 22 at the event center. If you have questions, please contact Staff Sgt. Gabrielle Biegler at 567-2818.


Schriever Diversity Day

Members from Team Schriever will host an annual Diversity Day 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 23 at the indoor running track.


Kids Understanding Deployment Operations

Schriever and U.S. Air Force Academy Airmen and Family Readiness Centers will host KUDOS – a deployment experience for kids (grades 3-12) – 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Falcon Trail Youth Center, located at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado. The interactive event, open to local Defense Department ID card holders, will help military kids learn what deployments are like for our warfighters. Please arrive early to allow time to sign your child in by 6:50 a.m.; event briefings start promptly at 7 a.m. Please call 567-3920 no later than Aug. 23 to sign-up.


On base

Irwin (West) Gate Construction: Plan Accordingly

The Schriever AFB Irwin Gate will close 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 23 for construction. Also, morning commuters who use the Irwin Gate may experience minor traffic delays 6-8 a.m. beginning Aug. 26. The detour will route inbound traffic through the left inbound lane and the main outbound lane.


Clinic Holiday Closures

The Schriever Air Force Base clinic will close at noon Aug. 30 and reopen Sept. 3. Visit for more information about services and clinic hours.


9/11 Memorial Soccer Tournament

Schriever Air Force Base will host a base-wide 9/11 memorial soccer tournament Sept. 9-11 at Schriever AFB. Participants can sign up as a team, or individually, and will receive a free shirt. The deadline to sign-up is Aug. 26. Email Senior Airman Hernando Ortega at or Capt. Rahni Moon at to sign-up or for more information.


Health Promotion Activities

The Schriever Health Promotion is closed until Aug. 27. Contact the Peterson Health Promotion office if you need assistance at 556-4292


Fitness Center Adjusts Manning

Fitness center staff will no longer provide coverage on federal holidays and family days associated with Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s. Customers who are registered for after-hours access can still use the fitness center during these days. After-hours access is available 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. To register for after-hours access, or for more details, call the fitness center front desk at 567-6628.


Survey: Where Airmen Get Information

Please take a moment to answer a few questions about the sources you find most useful when obtaining official information. The purpose of this survey is to provide the 50th Space Wing commander insight into where and how Schriever Airmen get official information. The commander will use these results to leverage current communication tools, and possibly incorporate new ones, to best serve and communicate with the base population.


The survey is anonymous and completely voluntary; however, maximum participation is encouraged to engage the best possible communication tools for our audiences. 


Claims against the estate

Air Force Seeks Logistics Planners

The Air Force continues to seek enlisted personnel interested in retraining into the logistics plans specialty career field. If you are interested in becoming a logistics planners (2G0X1), contact Ed Smith at 567-3082 or Cynthia Shuff at 567-3060.


New Civilian Personnel Hours

The Schriever Civilian Personnel Office new customer service hours are: 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 1-4:30 p.m. Wednesdays.



9/11 Commemoration Ceremony

A free community event to remember the lives lost Sept. 11, 2001, is scheduled 10-11 a.m. Sept. 11 at Memorial Park in downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado. Retired Gen. Richard B. Myers will give remarks.


Run for the Fallen

The Colorado Run for the Fallen is scheduled 7 a.m. Sept. 14-15 and will go from Fort Carson, Colorado, to Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver. Military Retirees Activities Office  

The Military Retiree Activity Office hosts a monthly meeting for all military retirees and their spouses on the second Thursday of every month at 11:30 a.m. The next meeting is scheduled Sept. 12 at the Peterson Air Force Base Golf Course club house. The guest speaker for the event is Hilary Bryant from Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center.

The Society of Military Widows

The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets on the last Wednesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. in The Club at Peterson AFB, Colorado.
