SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Each month the Schriever AFB Top III honors a Top Performer. The Top Performer award highlights the superior efforts and contributions of our junior enlisted members from across the base.
Senior Airman Brian Parra, 2nd Space Operations Squadron, earned Schriever Air Force Base's Top III Performer of the Month for March. Parra has been a cornerstone for GPS operations during the Space Mission Force transition. He stepped up to a leadership role, typically designated for NCOs. Due to a shortage of NCOs in 2 SOPS, the squadron Placed Parra in a leadership role. He has been responsible for three junior Airmen on his crew, taking them under his wing and taking direct responsibility for their wellbeing as well as discipline, showing remarkable leadership skills. In the early morning of March 12, a member of Parra's crew fell ill, and subsequently died. Parra provided self-aid buddy care as the crew commander directed emergency response actions. Following the traumatic event, Parra embodied the wingman culture and cared for his crewmates. Checking on them frequently, coordinating post-mid shift breakfasts and just listening to other people's stories, Parra personified resiliency.
