Wing hosts April warfit run
The Schriever Air Force Base warfit run will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at the outdoor running track. Please be in place no later than 3:15 p.m.

Military Retirees Activities Office holds monthly luncheon 
The Military Retiree Activities office holds a luncheon at noon the second Thursday of each month at the Peterson Air Force Base club, followed by its monthly council meeting at 2:30 p.m. in Building 350, Room 1206. The guest speaker for Thursday will be Kathy Clinton from Morning Star Retirement Living. Call 556-7153 for more information.

Traffic Safety Awareness Week in full swing   
The 50th Space Wing Safety Office will host Motorcycle Safety Day and a mentorship ride Friday. A briefing will be held prior to the ride at Building 300 Auditorium at 11 a.m. weather permitting. The mentorship ride will commence at 1 p.m. All riders are welcome to attend.

Base housing holds food, clothing drive 
The Schriever Air Force Base & Teens/Kids Helping Kids Food Drive to benefit the Ellicott Helping Hands Food Pantry is underway. We are collecting to benefit those directly in our community and on Schriever AFB. There are different ways to donate your non-perishable food items: collection boxes will be available in TVC and many squadron offices through April 15. We will also be in front of the Peterson AFB commissary from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, contact Jahnna Bythewood at

Ellicott Helping Hands Food Drive 
The Ellicott Helping Hands Food Pantry is accepting donations to replenish their food stores.  If you would like to donate, drop off non-perishable food items that are not expired to one of the donation boxes located in Building 210, Building 300 (next to the Dish dining facility) or the base fitness center.    Donations provided will have a direct impact on the Colorado Springs community.  Food Drive will end Tuesday.  For more information, call Senior Airman Derek Guedes at 567-5317.

Air Force Assistance Fund underway
The LeMay Foundation awards grants to enlisted and officer retirees' surviving spouses. In 2013, the LeMay Foundation provided $426,302 in assistance that benefited widows with monthly grants to augment incomes that fall below the poverty line and provided one-time grants to assist with needs like hearing aids, dental care and minor home repairs. The 2016 Air Force Assistance Fund runs until April 29.  Contact your unit AFAF representative to contribute.

Off Base

Society opens door to military widows 
The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse's rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets on the last Wednesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. at the Peterson Air Force Base Club. Call 597-0492 or 591-9523 for more information.      


Legal office opening late
Due to an official function, the legal office will open at 8:30 a.m. April 22.  The Article 137/reenlistment briefing and legal assistance will be moved from 8 - 8:30 a.m. that day only.  Call the front desk with any questions/concerns at 567-5050. 

Family Advocacy holds activities at Schriever  
There will be an information table for the Family Advocacy Program and Mental Health April 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Restricted Area, just outside the Dish Dining Facility and at the Tierra-Vista Community Center from 4 - 6 p.m. This is part of the Child Abuse Prevention Month campaign.

Inhaler found
There was an inhaler found in the Building 210 atrium April 5. The medicine is Ventolin HFA. If anybody has misplaced this, contact either Stephen Cooper at 567-5668 or Dennis Daniels at 567-3433.


Van pool seeks passengers
A Schriever van pool is looking for additional riders.  The van leaves from the Albertson's parking lot on Union and Research at 5:45 a.m. and will arrive at Schriever Air Force Base around 6:15 a.m.  The van will leave Schriever at 3:30 p.m. and return to Albertson's around 4:15 p.m. This is a great way to save wear and tear on your car, save money and relax on the way to/from work.  If interested, contact Herb Hipple at 567-0285.
