Command Chief hosts enlisted call
Chief Master Sgt. John Bentivegna, 50th Space Wing command chief, will host a wing enlisted call 1 p.m. Thursday in the Schriever Fitness Center. Topics include Enlisted Force Distribution Panel, promotions and feedback.
Wing hosts retreat
The 50th Space Wing retreat is 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the wing headquarters. Be in place by 4:20 p.m.
The finance customer service office will be closed Friday for an official function.
Academy instructors teach leadership seminar
The U.S. Air Force Academy's Behavior Science and Leadership Department is offering its four-part "Being a Professional" series at Schriever Air Force Base. This seminar aims for a transformational experience by taking leadership theories and applying them to each participant's daily professional/personal lives through reflection, dialogue and exercises.

Mentoring program kicks off at Academy Ropes Course
Enjoy a day on the ropes course 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. April 12 and network with potential mentors/mentees or expand an existing mentor/mentee relationship. Air Force Assistance Fund underway
The Air Force Villages is one of four Air Force Assistance Fund charities. Air Force Villages honors spouses for the sacrifices they made while serving their country, side by side with their loved ones. They provide a safe, comfortable environment where surviving spouses are surrounded by friends in a home they cannot provide for themselves. This meaningful cause benefits an average of 50+ individuals annually at a cost of more than $1 million per year. The 2016 Air Force Assistance Fund runs until April 29. Contact your unit AFAF representative to contribute.
Week features traffic safety awareness
The 50th Space Wing Safety office will host a traffic safety awareness week in observation of Distracted Driving Awareness Month. The week will begin with Carseat Safety Day at the Child Development Center 3 p.m. April 12. This will be available to all base personnel who would like to have their car seat inspected or professionally installed. The last event will be Motorcycle Safety Day mentorship ride 1 p.m. April 15. A briefing will be held prior at the base softball field parking lot at Hahn Avenue. All riders are welcome to attend.
Military Retirees Activities Office holds monthly luncheon
The Military Retiree Activities office holds a luncheon at noon the second Thursday of each month at the Peterson Air Force Base club, followed by its monthly council meeting at 2:30 p.m. in Building 350, Room 1206. Society opens door to military widows
The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse's rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets on the last Wednesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. at the Peterson Air Force Base Club. Call 597-0492 or 591-9523 for more information.
Base housing holds food, clothing drive
The food drive and clothing swap porch pickup at Schriever base housing is noon April 9. Clean out your closets and pantries. We will be accepting non-perishable food items (canned fruits and vegetables, cereals, pastas, etc.) for Schriever AFB and Teens/Kids Helping Kids food drive to benefit the Ellicott Helping Hands Food Pantry. In addition, we will also be collecting children's and teen's clothing to benefit the Children/Teen's Clothing Swap. Leave donations on your front porches, labeled and we will collect and deliver it for you. Schriever, Peterson hosts clothing drive
The Children and Teen's Clothing Drive is 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 23 at the Peterson Air Force Base Youth Center. All families are welcome to pick up free clothing even without a donation. The organizers are accepting clothing donations for children and teens at multiple locations on Schriever AFB until April 22. The locations include the shopette, fitness center, Restricted Area portals, dining facility, Tierra Vista Community Center and the Child Development Center. Van Pool seeks passengers
A Schriever van pool is looking for additional riders. The van leaves from the Albertson's parking lot on Union and Research at 5:45 a.m. and will arrive at Schriever Air Force Base around 6:15 a.m. The van will leave Schriever at 3:30 p.m. and get back to Albertson's around 4:15 p.m. This is a great way to save wear and tear on your car, save money and relax on the way to/from work.
