GPS gala sets 'Gold Standard'

The second annual GPS Heritage Gala will take place Friday, Feb. 19, at the Space Foundation.  The event, themed "Setting the Gold Standard," will celebrate the success of GPS and all the people who make it possible.   Social hour begins at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m.  The gala was designed to inspire the GPS community by sharing stories of our valued users.  The guest speaker is a Tactical Air Control Party member and Wounded Warrior, Tech. Wanted: Dedicated players for base softball team
The Schriever varsity softball team is looking for dedicated players for the upcoming season. If interested, tryouts will be held 4 p.m. Feb. 15, 16 and 17 at the base softball field.  There will also be a tryout 11 a.m. Feb. 20 for those who cannot make it during the week.  Please contact Master Sgt. Chapel holds Ash Wednesday services to begin Lent
A Catholic mass and Protestant prayer service will be held today, Feb. 10, in Building T-135 (next to Schriever Fitness Center) and will include a distribution of ashes commemorating the beginning of Lent. For more information, call the chapel at 567-3705.
- The Catholic mass will be held at 11 a.m.
- The Protestant prayer service will be held at noon.

Chapel sponsors women's Bible study
The Schriever Chapel sponsors a women's Bible study 9:30-11 a.m. every Tuesday in the Tierra Vista conference room. "The Lies Women Believe and the Truth that Sets them Free" by Nancy Leigh DeMoss is the current book of choice the group will go through together and study, along with the Bible. Housing offers family Christian fellowship
The Schriever Housing Family Christian Fellowship now offers youth Bible study for ages 5 and up. Study for both adults and youth will consist of inspiring worship, Bible study and prayer 6:30-8 p.m. every Wednesday at the Tierra Vista Community Center. You don't want to miss it, bring the family. For more information, call 567-3705.

Society opens door to military widows 
The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse's rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows will meet at 10:30 a.m. on the last Wednesday of the month at the Peterson Air Force Base club.
