SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Schriever Air Force Base postal patrons will have a new stop to pick up and deliver official mail.
The base post office will move to Building 780, Schriever Air Force Base, with operations to start there on February 2, 2016.
"The move to Bldg. 780 provides Schriever AFB a centralized location for official mail processing, including scanning, processing and pickup or delivery," said Staff Sgt. Shelley Lampman, the 50th Space Communications Squadron coordinator for the move. "Most users will see a more timely delivery of official mail, thanks to more efficient and faster processing."
The 50 SCS has been coordinating the move since May 2015, using an Air Force Continuous Process Improvement event to resolve minor vulnerabilities in the way the base handled official mail. Senior Master Sgt. Patricia Ford, 50 SCS, headed the effort that lead to process changes and the sequential decision to move the postal facility.
"This was a base-wide effort, including tenant units and support from our Official Mail Center at Peterson [Air Force Base]," Ford said. "CPI gave us the framework, but it was creative focus of the team that came up with the right solutions."
The Air Force classifies Schriever's postal site as an Activity Distribution Office, or ADO. An ADO receives mail from an Official Mail Center for distribution. Peterson Air Force Base serves as Schriever's Official Mail Center.
Jan. 29, 2016, is the last day personnel will use the Building 300 location.
Building 780 is located inside the West Gate entrance, near the West Portals.
Hours of operation will not change. Unit mailboxes are available 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., with customer service support available 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
