Schriever focuses on 'Power of One'

Team Schriever is hosting a total force leadership development program event focusing on John Maxwell's "Power of One" 12:30-3:30 p.m. today, Jan. 14, in the Building 300 auditorium. This program delivers practical leadership lessons to the total force of Schriever using Maxwell's award winning leadership curriculum (via a facilitator). Military Retirees Activities Office holds luncheon 
The Military Retiree Activities Office holds a luncheon at noon the second Thursday of each month, at the Peterson Air Force Base club, followed by its monthly council meeting at 2:30 p.m. in Building 350, Room 1206. The guest speaker for today, Jan. 14, is Jeff Major, financial coach for veterans from the Pikes Peak Work Force Center.  Spouses are welcome to attend.  Contact 719-556-7153 for more information.

Schriever housing holds fellowship 
The Schriever Housing Family Christian Fellowship is 6:30-8 p.m. every Wednesday at the Tierra Vista Community Center. It consists of inspiring worship, Bible study and prayer. Bring the family. For more information, call 567-3705.

Chapel sponsors women's Bible study 
The Schriever Chapel sponsors women's bible study 9:30-11 a.m. every Tuesday in the Tierra Vista conference room. "The Lies Women Believe and The Truth that Sets them Free" by Nancy Leigh DeMoss is the current book of choice the group will go through together and study, along with the Bible. 50 SW commander hosts development team feedback
Col DeAnna M. Burt, 50th Space Wing commander, is hosting a development team feedback for all Schriever 13S officers on Feb. 2 from 0900-1030 in the Building 300 auditorium. DCS link will be available for geographically separated units.

50 SW hosts annual awards banquet
The 50th Space Wing hosts the annual awards banquet Feb. 5 at the Peterson Air Force Base club. Medallion ceremony is at 5 p.m., with cocktail hour at 6 p.m. Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. Dress code is mess dress or semi-formal for military and formal or black tie for civilians.

MyPay features Affordable Care Act IRS form
There is another form in MyPay under Taxes, the IRS Form 1095. The Affordable Care Act signed into law in 2010 requires all U.S. citizens and legal residents to obtain and maintain a minimum standard of health care insurance.  For 2015 filings, taxpayers are required to prove that they have obtained the minimum essential coverage, TRICARE qualifies for this coverage.  Your proof of coverage is the Department of Treasury Internal Revenue Service Form 1095: Employer Provided Health Insurance Offer and Coverage.  Active duty, Guard, Reserve, retiree and civilian will need to have the IRS Form 1095 to file their taxes in 2016.  

Ride a vanpool
Save gas money. The government provides $130 per rider per month to pay for a commuter van.  Department of Defense civilians and military personnel are eligible.  Space is available on a van that originates from Falcon Walmart (Woodmen and Meridian Market View Road). The van departs 6:25 a.m. weekdays and arrives 6:55 a.m. at Schriever. At the end of the duty day, the van departs 4:10 p.m. at Schriever and arrives 4:40 p.m. at Falcon Walmart. Request absentee ballots now 
State primary elections will kick off this year's election season beginning in February. While some states do not require absentee military voters and their dependents to re-certify annually, some states do. You should receive a form to request an absentee ballot from your unit voting assistance officer before Friday, Jan. 15. If you do not, you can find the form on the Federal Voting Assistance Program website at www.fvap.gov. There, you can complete the form and print it for mailing.  If you have questions, contact your unit rep or the Installation Voting Office at 567-6877.

Office furniture available
The following office furniture is available for free only for office use: deep desk tops, overhead shelves and overhead all metal bins; heavy duty under table mount keyboard holders, fully adjustable with left/right pullout mouse area; multiple under desk file cabinets; light grey with file drawer on bottom with two drawers on top with desk top installed; black, older style under desk two drawer file cabinets; and free refrigerator. Society opens door to military widows  
The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse's rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows will meet at 10:30 a.m. on the last Wednesday of the month at the Peterson Air Force Base club.
