SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- 50th Space Wing October War Fit Run
The 50th Space Wing War Fit Run will be held 3 p.m. today at the outdoor running track. Please be in place no later than 2:45 p.m. Note the time has changed to 3p.m. as winter approaches.

Housing offers bible study
The Schriever Housing Family Christian Fellowship will consist of worship, Bible study and prayer 6:30- 8 p.m. every Wednesday at Tierra Vista Community Center. Those interested may email the chapel or call 719-567-3705. Dinner will be provided, so bring the family! If you play the guitar or want to lead worship, contact us ASAP.

National Domestic Violence Awareness Month
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Family Advocacy Program will be hosting a lunch and learn event "Stop the Drama" 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Schriever Airman and Family Readiness classroom. No RSVP required. Fitness Center Floorball (Floor hockey)

Chapel hosts Schriever Women's Bible Study
The Schriever Chapel will sponsor the Schriever Women's Bible Study in the Tierra Vista Conference Room, every Tuesday 9:30 - 11 a.m. "The lies women believe and the truth that sets them free" by Nancy Leigh DeMoss is the current book of choice the group will review, along with the Bible. AFOSI Islamic State threat briefing
The Air Force Office of Special Investigations is hosting a briefing 9:30 a.m. Oct. 21 in the Building 300 auditorium. The briefing will provide information on the Islamic State Organization as well as information on local threat issues.

Society opens door to military widows
The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse's rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets at 10:30 a.m. the last Wednesday of the month at the Peterson Air Force Base Club. Military Retirees Activities Office holds luncheon
The Military Retiree Activities office holds a luncheon at noon the second Thursday of each month at the Peterson Air Force Base Club, followed by its monthly council meeting at 2:30 p.m. in Building 350, Room 1206. Health and benefits fair
The open season for Federal Employee Health and Benefits and Dental/Vision Insurance will run from Nov. 9 to Dec. 14. To help you prepare, Schriever Air Force Base will host the Open Season Health Fair Tuesday, Oct. 27 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in Building 210 atrium. There will be representatives from different insurance companies available to answer questions and provide forms and pamphlets to all civilian employees on Schriever Air Force Base. German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge testing held at Schriever
Schriever Air Force Base will host the first day of testing for the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency Oct. 27. The testing will span three afternoons from Oct. 27-29, with subsequent testing phases held on Ft. Carson and Peterson Air Force Base, respectively. Participants who successfully complete all three phases will earn the right to wear the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency in bronze, silver or gold. Testing includes two sprints, a flexed arm hang, a 100-meter swim, a pistol shoot and a ruck march. To sign up, email 2nd Lt. Mark Skinner from 2nd Space Operations Squadron.

Schriever holds Wingman University
Wingman University will be held Oct. 27, opening with a commander's call at 9 a.m. at the base fitness center. Members will be able to choose what classes they attend. Short classes will be offered throughout the base, brought to you by: Mental Health, Family Advocacy, Chapel Office, Health and Wellness, Airman and Family Readiness Center, Resiliency Trainers and American Red Cross. Schriever Chapel presents "Team 5-0 Amazing gRace"
Get your squadron teams of four together in order to test your physical resilience, knowledge of world religion and other random trivia on a scavenger hunt toward the finish line. First team/squadron to the finish line wins cool prizes. AFOSI foreign travel briefing
The Air Force Office of Special Investigations is hosting a foreign travel briefing starting November at 10:30 a.m. every Tuesday in Building 210, Suite 245. Any member, who is unable to attend the designated travel brief dates, will be required to have a signed Memo For Record from their commander prior to AFOSI scheduling a separate brief.

New rules for filling prescriptions
All non-active-duty TRICARE beneficiaries must fill select brand name maintenance medications (for chronic conditions, i.e. for blood pressure or cholesterol) through either TRICARE Pharmacy Home Delivery or a military pharmacy. To see the list of affected brand name drugs, visit Please note this does not affect active duty patients, generic name medications or medications taken for a short time, such as antibiotics.

Beneficiaries who choose to continue using a retail pharmacy must ask for the generic versions of the medication, if available. (Note: Some medications are available as brand name only, i.e. CrestorR and LandusR). Beneficiaries filling any affected brand name medications at a retail pharmacy will receive a letter from TRICARE containing information about this change and explaining that after two "courtesy" fills at a retail pharmacy, they will have to pay 100 percent of the cost of the medication. Complete your MiCare-RelayHealth registration
The 50th Space Wing's goal is to have 100 percent active duty enrolled in MiCare. The Schriever Clinic sent email invitations to all personnel's government accounts who are enrolled at the clinic. Please respond to this invitation. Registration takes less than a minute. MiCare-RelayHealth is a Department of Defense secure messaging system. Connect with your provider so you can stay informed of your health and wellness. Did you know that MiCare-RelayHealth is also open to dependents? Children under 18 may be enrolled under a parent. Schriever facilities undergo winterization
The following facilities have no water as part of the utilities shop winterization for this upcoming cold weather season: softball field restrooms, outdoor running track restrooms, Child Development Center playground, wash rack and indoor running track. These facilities are winterized now and will not return to service until Spring 2016. If there are any questions, contact Civil Engineering customer service at 719-567-2300.

Dormitory Shuttle Service available (PAFB - SAFB - PAFB)

Shuttle service is available to all dorm residents and technical training school students assigned to Schriever Air Force Base.

Dry Cleaning Express service available
The dry cleaning drop box at the Schriever Shoppette is available.  Drop off for Mondays is 6 a.m. - 2 p.m. and pick up is Thursday any time after 3 p.m.  Drop off for Thursdays is 6 a.m. - 2.p.m. and pick up is Monday any time after 3 p.m. The concessionaire will pick up and drop off between 2 and 2:30 p.m. both days.

Updated Clinic hours and closures
The clinic is closed on Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. for unit PT.
Normal clinic hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
The clinic closes at 11:00 a.m. the second Wednesday of each month for training.

Schriever Air Force Clinic provides care to retirees
Did you know you can obtain your primary care at Schriever clinic? All TRICARE Prime beneficiaries are eligible to enroll at the clinic! If you work on Schriever, receiving care at the clinic is convenient and accessible. Need medications? The pharmacy wait time is five minutes or less! Subway Food Truck comes to Schriever
A Subway mobile food vender will be on Schriever every Wednesday. Army-Air Force Exchange Service has arranged the truck to be on base from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. They will leave sooner if they run out of product. The vendor will set up on the north side of the Airman and Family Readiness Center, Building 101. They will feature a limited Subway menu for purchase.  Subway is also taking pre-orders for Wednesday delivery. Call in your sandwich order, (any sandwich, any way you want it) before Tuesday of any week and they will deliver it in their truck Wednesday. Crime Prevention Tip
When observing an aggressive driver who is putting other motorists at risk, pull over to the side of the road to utilize your cellular device while on the installation or hands free device and contact local Security Forces, Colorado Highway Patrol or El Paso County as soon as possible and be prepared to provide the following information: vehicle description, license plate number, location and direction of travel, driver description and the aggressive driving behavior being demonstrated.
