SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Ft. Carson holds 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

All Schriever personnel are invited to attend the 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at 10:28 a.m. (the exact time the North Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed), Friday, Sept. 11, at Gate one outside of Fort Carson. Parking is available on base, and carpooling is encouraged. Round trip transportation will be provided to Schriever personnel, but it is limited. Two buses are reserved and will depart Schriever Air Force Base at 9 a.m. Those interested in taking the bus should contact 2nd Lt. David Mulqueen at 719-567-2400, or 2nd Lt. Kenneth Mackenthun at 719-567-4119. The uniform for the ceremony is service dress for active duty, and coat and tie for civilians.

STEM Rocks Festival welcomes all

The Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Rocks Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Peterson Air & Space Museum (corner of Peterson Boulevard and Ent Avenue). Activities include crawl-through caves, rocket launching, underwater rovers, hurricane simulators, glider building, dinosaur investigations, interacting with wild animals, exploring with Legos® and much more. Schriever hosts August Back to School Nutrition Series

There are several healthy food and nutritional initiatives coming to Schriever for the month of August. On Aug. 13, Team 5-0 can find some ideas for healthy brown bag lunches for both children and adults.  On Aug. 20, learn about meal timing, snack combinations and snacks for on the go or after school.  On Aug. 28, learn how to create dinners in 30 minutes or less the whole family will enjoy.  Sign up by 12:00 p.m. the Wednesday prior to the class start date.  Classes are held at the Schriever Tierra Vista Club House 12:15 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.  To sign up call 567-4292. 

Schriever AFB SIPRNet Shared Drive Migration Announcement

The 50th Space Communications Squadron is decommissioning Schriever AFB's old SIPR shared drive (FS01) and replacing it with a new shared drive (FS03).  Please move all files your unit would like to retain to drive FS03. Starting Aug. 17, all records on the old SIPR drive (FS01) will be "read-only" for 30 days allowing personnel time to move files to the new shared drive.  Effective Sept. 15, the old shared drive will be decommissioned. 50th Space Wing holds SNCO Induction Ceremony and Banquet

The 50th Space Wing Senior NCO Induction Ceremony and Banquet will be held Aug. 21, at Peterson Air Force Base, The Club.  The medallion ceremony begins at 5 p.m.  Social hour is at 5:30 p.m.   The ceremony and dinner service begins at 6 p.m.  The cost of the event is $27 for members and non-members of all ranks.  Dress for military is mess dress or semi-formal.  Civilian wear is semi-formal attire.  RSVP by Aug. 17.  For more information or to reserve, contact Senior Master Sgt. First Aid certification held at Schriever

There will be an American Red Cross Adult/Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid Course this Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Aug. 15, here at Schriever. The cost is $18.90. Sign up by Thursday, Aug. 13.  To sign up, call 719-322-8273 or 719-567-4292. 

Military Retirees Activities Office holds luncheon

The Military Retiree Activities office holds a luncheon at noon the second Thursday of each month at the Peterson Air Force Base Club, followed by its monthly council meeting at 2:30 p.m. in Building 350, Room 1206. Society opens door to military widows

The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouses rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets at 10:30 a.m. on the last Wednesday of the month at the Peterson Air Force Base Club. On Thursday, September 17, they will be celebrating their 35th anniversary. There will be a luncheon at 11:30 am at the Olive Garden at Citadel Crossing.
