SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Arby's food truck comes to Schriever
An Arby's mobile food vender will be on Schriever this week. Army-Air Force Exchange Service has arranged the truck to be on base from Wednesday-Friday (August 5, 6, 7) 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. hours. The vendor will be set up on the north side of the Airman and Family Readiness Center, Building 101 during these dates and times. They will feature a limited ARBY's menu for purchase.  Charge Cards will also be accepted.

50th Space Wing holds SNCO Induction Ceremony and Banquet
The 50th Space Wing Senior NCO Induction Ceremony and Banquet will be held Aug. 21 at Peterson Air Force Base, The Club.  The medallion ceremony begins at 5 p.m.  Social hour is at 5:30 p.m.   The ceremony and dinner service begins at 6 p.m.  The cost of the event is $27 for members and non-members of all ranks.  Dress for military is mess dress or semi-formal.  Civilian wear is semi-formal attire.  RSVP by Aug. 17.  For more information or to reserve, contact SMSgt Gregory Artis at 567-5031 or MSgt Gina Crossett at 567-0472.

Military Retirees Activities Office holds luncheon
The Military Retiree Activities office holds a luncheon at noon the second Thursday of each month at the Peterson Air Force Base Club, followed by its monthly council meeting at 2:30 p.m. in Building 350, Room 1206. The guest speaker for Aug. 13 is Dr. Shaw from the UCCS Aging Center. For more information, call 556-7153.

Society opens door to military widows
The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouses rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets on the last Wednesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. at the Peterson Air Force Base Club. Horn Creek Family Retreat August 14 - 16 2015
Engage in relationship building and family resiliency seminars, as well as fun and challenging team building activities for your family. Child care will be provided during the Saturday evening seminar only (1 hour) for children ages 0-12. However, this is a family retreat; therefore no continuous child care will be provided. We have limited spots available; first come, first served. For more information, please contact the Schriever Chaplain's Office at 567-3705.

Save money, use vanpool - Falcon
Save gas money, the government provides $130 per rider per month to pay for the commuter van.  DOD civilians and uniformed military personnel are eligible.  Space is available on the van that originates from Falcon Wal-Mart (Woodmen and Meridian Market View Road). The van departs at 6:25 a.m. weekdays and arrives at Schriever Air Force Base at 6:55 a.m. At the end of the duty day, the van departs Schriever at 4:10 p.m. and arrives at Falcon Wal-Mart at 4:40 p.m.  Drop off and pickup points on Schriever may vary. Provide visibility around the house by leaving lights on after dark or having motion detector lights around the property. This ensures that there are no dark areas around the house in which a person could hide. If you have any questions, contact SSgt McCoy at 567-5830.

Honnen Ice Arena offers free ice skating
Honnen Ice Arena is offering a free night to enjoy ice skating on Saturday, August 29, 2015 from 5:15 p.m. - 7:15 p.m at the Colorado College Honnen Ice Arena at 30 W. Cache La Poudre, Colorado Springs, CO, 80903. The night includes free skating, free skate rentals as well as free lessons. Everyone is invited from all ages and experience levels.
