Base Bulletin - week of July 30

SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- 50th Space Wing holds SNCO Induction Ceremony and Banquet
The 50th Space Wing Senior NCO Induction Ceremony and Banquet will be held Aug. 21 at Peterson Air Force Base, The Club.  The medallion ceremony begins at 5 p.m.  Social hour is at 5:30 p.m.   The ceremony and dinner service begins at 6 p.m.  The cost of the event is $27 for members and non-members of all ranks.  Dress for military is mess dress or semi-formal.  Civilian wear is semi-formal attire.  RSVP by Aug. 17.  For more information or to reserve, contact SMSgt Gregory Artis at 567-5031 or Master Sgt. Military Retirees Activities Office holds luncheon
The Military Retiree Activities office holds a luncheon at noon the second Thursday of each month at the Peterson Air Force Base Club, followed by its monthly council meeting at 2:30 p.m. in Building 350, Room 1206. The guest speaker for Aug. 13 is Dr. Shaw from the UCCS Aging Center. For more information, call 556-7153.

Society opens door to military widows
The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouses rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets on the last Wednesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. at the Peterson Air Force Base Club. Horn Creek Family Retreat August 14 - 16
Engage in relationship building and family resiliency seminars, as well as fun and challenging team building activities for your family. Child care will be provided during the Saturday evening seminar only (1 hour) for children ages 0-12. However, this is a family retreat; therefore no continuous child care will be provided. We have limited spots available; first come, first served. For more information, please contact the Schriever Chaplain's Office at 567-3705.

Save money, use vanpool - Falcon
Save gas money, the government provides $130 per rider per month to pay for the commuter van.  DOD civilians and uniformed military personnel are eligible.  Space is available on the van that originates from Falcon Wal-Mart (Woodmen and Meridian Market View Road). The van departs at 6:25 a.m. weekdays and arrives at Schriever Air Force Base at 6:55 a.m. At the end of the duty day, the van departs Schriever at 4:10 p.m. and arrives at Falcon Wal-Mart at 4:40 p.m.  Drop off and pickup points on Schriever may vary. Make sure your child knows to never divulge personal information on the Internet, including his or her name, age, photos, gender, physical description, telephone number, address, etc. Internet predators look at personal profiles stored on the Internet to find their victims.    If you have any questions, contact Staff Sgt.
