Save money, use vanpool
Is the wear and tear of commuting taking a bite out of your car and your wallet?  Is the driving causing too much stress?  Take advantage of a vanpool!  Government civil service and active-duty military may receive a mass transit benefit to offset commuting costs.   Some companies may also offer mass transit benefits.  So join our van pool.  The route includes the South Denver, Castle Pines/Rock, Monument, Black Forest/Woodmen area.  Final destination is Schriever Air Force Base with arrival times between 7 and 7:15 a.m., Monday-Friday.  Call (719) 359-0343 for more information.

Schriever Canned Food Drive
Your First Sergeant Diamond Council is leading the charge for the Schriever "Canned" Food Drive.  This food drive will help us do our part for the seventh annual "Feds Feed Families" Food Drive Campaign started this summer.  Last year federal employees, as a whole, contributed more than 14.8 million pounds of food for this drive.  To help make this year a success, we are asking for everyone's help to collect canned and non-perishable food items for our local Care and Share Food Bank.  In 2014, Schriever came in second place in all of AFSPC; this year we have set a goal to reach 3,000 pounds, and a hopeful first place, of non-perishable items donated by Aug. 31. Items can be donated in one of three ways:  First way, is to bring in any of the items on the list below and drop them off at one of the donation locations.  The second way is to go to http://vad.aidmatrix.org/vadxml.cfm?driveid=40340 and follow the onscreen instructions to select the food items you want to donate.  These electronic donations will then go straight to our food drive.  The third way is to bring canned food items to the July and August Wing Fun Runs and drop them off in the marked bins.  Everyone who brings at least two canned food items for this run will be authorized to wear appropriate civilian PT gear. Let's do our part and make the Schriever "Canned" Food Drive a huge success. Highly needed items include canned food, fruits, meat, cereal and oatmeal. The donation locations are the North Portal Entrance, West Portal Entrance, Atrium Building 210, Fitness Center, Tierra Vista Community Center and your First Sergeant's Office.
