Base Bulletin - week of May 28

SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- 50 SW to hold Change of Command
The 50th Space Wing will welcome Col. DeAnna Burt as the incoming commander 2 p.m. May 29, in front of the 50 SW Headquarters building. For more information please contact Senior Airman Naomi Griego at 567-5040. Uniform of the day will be short sleeve blues with all accoutrements.
Adult, pediatric CPR class
A CPR course will be held May 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Building T-135. The cost is $18.90 and must be paid by cash or check. Contact Kathleen Kossler at 567-4242 or 719-322-8273 to sign up. Registration ends May 28.
Volunteer Information Fair June 4
There will be a Volunteer Information Fair on June 4 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Building 210 atrium. Representatives from various non-profit organizations will be available to answer questions about their organization and discuss opportunities to volunteer. This is a great opportunity to learn about the many ways to give back and get involved in the community. For more information, contact the Airman & Family Readiness Center at 567-3920.
Military Retirees Activities office holds luncheon
The Military Retiree Activities office holds a luncheon at noon the second Thursday of each month at the Peterson Air Force Base Club, followed by its monthly council meeting at 2:30 p.m. in Building 350, Room 1206. The guest speaker for June 11 is Tech. Sgt. Linville from Space "A" Travel. For more information, call 556-7153. 
Society opens doors to military widows
The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouses rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets on the last Wednesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. at the Peterson Air Force Base Club. Vanpool opens at Castle Rock
Space is available in Castle Rock to Schriever vanpool. It departs Castle Rock at 6 a.m. and arrives at Schriever at 7:15 a.m. For more information, contact 1st Lt. Peter Forde at 567-5258.
Buy Elitch Garden tickets
The Information, Tickets and Tours/Outdoor Recreation Office is now selling discounted Elitch Gardens amusement park tickets. Season passes, one-day passes, meal vouchers and parking passes can all be purchased at the ITT/ODR in Building 300, Room 133. Buy early to take advantage of "pre-season" specials. Stop by the office or call 567-6050 for any questions. 
Save money, use vanpool - Falcon
Save gas money. The government provides $130 per rider per month to pay for the commuter van. DOD civilians and uniformed military personnel are eligible. Space is available on the van that originates from the Falcon Wal-Mart on Woodmen and Meridian Market View Road. The van departs at 6:25 a.m. weekdays and arrives at Schriever AFB at 6:55 a.m. At the end of the duty day the van departs Schriever at 4:10 p.m. and arrives at the Falcon Wal-Mart at 4:40 p.m. Drop off and pick up points on Schriever may vary. Save money, use vanpool 
Is the wear and tear of commuting taking a bite out of your car and your wallet?  Is the driving causing too much stress?  Take advantage of a vanpool!  Government civil service and active-duty military may receive a mass transit benefit to offset commuting costs.   Some companies may also offer mass transit benefits.  So join our van pool. The route includes the South Denver, Castle Pines/Rock, Monument, Black Forest/Woodmen area. Final destination is Schriever Air Force Base with arrival times between 7 and 7:15 a.m., Monday-Friday.  Call (719) 359-0343 for more information. 
Legal Assistance Hours
The 50 SW/JA has legal assistance walk-in hours (to include POA's and notaries)are  Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Fridays from 8 to 10 a.m.  A ticket number is required for POA's.  Visit for information regarding POA's and to get your ticket number.  Wills are by appointment only on Wednesdays from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.  Please call 567-5050 for more information or to schedule an appointment.
Housing offers Bible Study
The Schriever Housing Christian Fellowship will consist of worship, bible study and prayer 6:30-8 p.m. EVERY WEDNESDAY at Tierra Vista Community Center. Those interested may email or call 406-871-0550.  All you need is a bible and willingness to study God's word.  The format will be a discussion led study. Childcare will not be provided but do not let the lack of childcare hinder attendance. Just give us a call and we will explore options as necessary.  If you play the guitar or to want to lead worship, contact us ASAP.
World Religions Lunch & Learn
The Schriever Chapel will host a World Religions Lunch & Learn each Wednesday at 11:30 in The Dish (the reserved area), beginning  Apr 29 and ending on May 27.  The session on Jun 3 has been CANCELLED. All are welcome to enjoy a stimulating and informational session, ending with Q & A period. Enjoy learning more about various cultures and religions. Each session is taught by a representative of that particular faith. Grab your lunch and prepare to be enlightened.
Free Marriage Care Weekend
Free weekend event for Schriever couples to Glen Eyrie Conference Center from June 12-14. Engage in some relationship building seminars as well as time for you and your spouse to simply connect with each other and have fun.  Childcare is not provided for this event, so parents will need to make personal arrangements for their children.
