Schriever celebrates E6 promotion release

Adult, pediatric CPR class

Volunteer Information Fair June 4
There will be a Volunteer Information Fair on June 4 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Building 210 atrium. Representatives from various non-profit organizations will be available to answer questions about their organization and discuss opportunities to volunteer. This is a great opportunity to learn about the many ways to give back and get involved in the community. For more information, contact the Airman & Family Readiness Center at 567-3920.

Military Retirees Activities office holds luncheon

he Military Retiree Activities office holds a luncheon at noon the second Thursday of each month at the Peterson Air Force Base Club, followed by its monthly council meeting at 2:30 p.m. in Building 350, Room 1206. Society opens doors to military widows 
The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouses rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets on the last Wednesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. at the Peterson Air Force Base Club. Vanpool opens at Castle Rock 
Space is available in Castle Rock to Schriever vanpool. It departs Castle Rock at 6 a.m. and arrives at Schriever at 7:15 a.m. For more information, contact 1st Lt. Peter Forde at 567-5258 or peter.forde.1@us.af.mil.

Buy Elitch Garden tickets
The Information, Tickets and Tours/Outdoor Recreation Office is now selling discounted Elitch Gardens amusement park tickets. Season passes, one-day passes, meal vouchers and parking passes can all be purchased at the ITT/ODR in Building 300, Room 133. Buy early to take advantage of "pre-season" specials. Stop by the office or call 567-6050 for any questions. 

Save money, use vanpool - Falcon
Save gas money. The government provides $130 per rider per month to pay for the commuter van. DOD civilians and uniformed military personnel are eligible. Space is available on the van that originates from the Falcon Wal-Mart on Woodmen and Meridian Market View Road. The van departs at 6:25 a.m. weekdays and arrives at Schriever AFB at 6:55 a.m. At the end of the duty day the van departs Schriever at 4:10 p.m. and arrives at the Falcon Wal-Mart at 4:40 p.m. Drop off and pick up points on Schriever may vary. Save money, use vanpool
Is the wear and tear of commuting taking a bite out of your car and your wallet?  Is the driving causing too much stress? Take advantage of a vanpool!  Government civil service and active-duty military may receive a mass transit benefit to offset commuting costs. Some companies may also offer mass transit benefits.  So join our van pool. The route includes the South Denver, Castle Pines/Rock, Monument, Black Forest/Woodmen area. Final destination is Schriever Air Force Base with arrival times between 7 and 7:15 a.m., Monday-Friday. Call (719) 359-0343 for more information.

Air Force offers summer internship program
Schriever will be participating in the Air Force Pathways Summer Internship Program from May 18 to Sept. 25.  Students at least 16 years of age attending high school or accepted for enrollment and/or attending college may apply. Cape Fox offers Motorcycle Training Courses
Registration for the Advanced Rider Course through Cape Fox has begun. This course will fulfill required intermediate and refresher motorcycle training for military riders.  Interested riders should contact their Unit Motorcycle Safety Representative for more details.  Classes will be held at the Motorcycle Training Academy at Chapel Hills Mall beginning on June 6, with other classes available throughout the summer. There are only 30 class seats available. KEEP Training for Civilian Supervisors
The Schriever Civilian Personnel Office is offering a Knowledge Enhanced Employee Program for supervisors of civilian employees. The class will cover topics such as filling positions, disciplinary actions, time/attendance, 971 files, and awards. The next class is 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. May 28 Bldg. 210, Room 310. Sky Sox ticket vouchers available now
Information, Tickets and Tours has free ticket vouchers for the June 4, 7:05 p.m. Military Appreciation Game. Vouchers can be picked up from ODR/ITT in Bldg. 300, Wizards Brew in Bldg. 210, or at the Fitness Center. Vouchers must be redeemed prior to the game at the Sky Sox box office. Limit of 10 per person.  For more information call 567-6050.

Sponsor a Cadet 
The U.S. Air Force Academy is looking for volunteer sponsor families to build a professional mentoring relationship and provide a home-away-from-home for the cadets.  Eligible sponsors are O-3 and above; E-6 and above; GS-05 and above.  Cadets will meet their sponsors at the Doolie Day Out event July 18.The deadline to sign up for the Doolie Day Out event is July 2. Crime Prevention Tip
Delete any suspicious e-mails. Don not believe e-mails asking to wire funds or cash checks over the internet. Suspicious e-mails include chain letters involving money, credit repair schemes, prize notifications that ask for money or checking account information first and work-at-home proposals.  If you have any questions, contact Staff Sgt. CVMA Golf Scramble at Peterson
Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, Chapter 3-2 Pikes Peak Region presents the Fallen Brothers Memorial golf tournament 1 p.m. May 23. Registration and lunch start at 11:00a.m. Pre-register at CVMA3-2.org. First 50 registered entries receive free swag bag. $59 entry fee includes 18 holes, cart & lunch. Silver Spruce Golf Course, Peterson AFB. All proceeds benefit veterans past and present.
