SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Schriever tax program is open
The Schriever Tax Program is open and runs in conjunction with the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. This is available for Schriever active-duty, retired military and their dependents through the VITA representatives. For a list of representatives or for more information, call 567-5050.

Crime Prevention Tip
Talk with children when they begin to use a computer on their own mobile device about internet safety. Discuss how they should not reveal personal information to anyone on the internet. If they ever come across anything that makes them uncomfortable, they should tell an adult immediately. If you have any questions, contact Staff Sgt. Steven McCoy at 567-5830.

Ellicott Elementary School holds registration
The Ellicott Elementary School will holds kindergarten and preschool registration 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 19. There will be no school for kindergarten and preschool students on that day. Please call the Elementary office at 683-2700 ext. 1 to make your kindergarten appointment. Parents should bring their child's birth certificate or verification of birth, the child's immunization record, and social security number to the enrollment appointment. You may call 719-683-2700 x2250 to set up your Preschool Appointment.

Hockey tournament features USA versus Canada
The second annual Canada versus USA ball hockey tournament is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 6 at the Peterson Air Force Base roller hockey rink, behind the fitness center. The USA team will include 21st and 50th Space Wings and 721st Mission Support Group members. There will be three teams - junior enlisted, junior leadership and senior leadership. VFW Post 101 celebrates 95th anniversary
The VFW Post 101 is celebrating its 95th anniversary April 17-19 at 702 South Tejon Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80903. The opening ceremony is 7 p.m. April 17; general celebration is 12:30 p.m. April 18; and Sunday brunch is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 19. For more information, visit www.vfwpost101.org.

The senior master sergeant promotion release ceremony and party is 3 p.m. March 5 in Building 210 atrium.

310 SW holds annual awards banquet
Col. Damon S. Manage your stress
We realize that today you are doing more with less. It is important that we build resilience to deal with our changing environment.  The 21st Medical Squadron Mental Health Clinic is offering a stress management class to teach relaxation skills and optimize wellbeing.  The class is open to all Schriever AFB personnel. Drop in on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at the Chapel Resource Room in Building 300, Room 146. Class starts at noon. Empower yourself to be a resilient person.  No RSVP required. Bring your lunch.

Military Retirees  Activities Office holds luncheon
The Military Retiree Activities office holds a luncheon at noon the second Thursday of each month at the Peterson Air Force Base club, followed by its monthly council meeting at 2:30 p.m. in Building 350, Room 1206.

Society of Military Widows open to widows
The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouses' rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets on the last Wednesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. at the Peterson Air Force Base club. Chapel sponsors leadership study
The chapel will sponsor a leadership study based on lessons from the Book of Nehemiah.  It is a faith-based study with life-changing insights and lessons on leadership.  If you are looking to enhance your leadership skills, this is a great opportunity.  It will begin 11:30 a.m. March 3 and 10 in the Satellite Dish dining facility.   Bring a friend.  Please come a little early so you can grab your grub and join in the fun.

Housing holds bible study
The Schriever Housing Christian Fellowship will consist of worship, bible study and prayer 6:30-8 p.m. every Wednesday at the Tierra Vista community center. Those interested may email jks.looking4glass@gmail.com or call 406-871-0550. All you need is a bible and willingness to study God's word. The format will be a discussion-led study. Childcare will not be provided but do not let the lack of childcare hinder attendance. Just give us a call and we will explore options as necessary.  If you play the guitar or want to lead worship, contact us as soon as possible.

Peterson Family Advocacy holds poetry slam jam
The Peterson Air Force Base Family Advocacy poetry slam jam is noon-3 p.m. March 14 at the Peterson Theater. The event is open to individuals ages 13-21 and affiliated with Peterson, Schriever, U.S. Air Force Academy and Fort Carson. Prizes will be awarded and all participants will receive a certificate. To register for the poetry slam, contact Martina Porter at 556-7023 for Peterson, Schriever and Academy or Lisa Jenkins at 526-8471 for Fort Carson by Feb. 27.
