Wing holds annual awards banquet 
The 50th Space Wing Annual Awards Banquet will be held Jan. 30 at The Club on Peterson Air Force Base. The medallion ceremony begins at 5 p.m., followed by social hour at 5:30 p.m. The banquet starts at 6 p.m.  The cost of the event is $28 for members/non-members for all ranks.  Dress for military is mess dress/semi-formal attire; for civilians, it's formal/semi-formal attire.  For information, please contact Master Sgt. Base leadership seeks quality of life inputs

Military Retirees Activities Office hosts monthly luncheon
The Military Retirees Activities office will have a luncheon noon Feb. 12 in the Palmer Room of the Peterson AFB club. Tom Tudor, former sentry and relief commander at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, will talk about the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the history of Arlington Cemetery as well as the history of Northern Virginia and Washington D.C.  Lunch will be served at noon.  Luncheon is open to all active-duty military, civilian employees, military retirees and their spouses. Call the Retiree Activities Office at Peterson AFB (556-7153) by Feb. 9 to reserve your place.      

Schriever celebrates promotees
The 50th Space Wing monthly promotion ceremony will be held 2 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Schriever Fitness Center. This will be for all January and February promotees. The uniform is ABU.

Tierra Vista holds town hall meeting
Tierra Vista Communities will host its quarterly community information (town hall) meeting 5:30 p.m. Jan. 29 at the community center. Discussion items include Community Enrichment Council updates, weather and winterization tips, utility billing/conservation programs, Community Support Updates (CEF, FSS, SFS, & PA), and review scheduled community events. Complete the Lazyman Triathlon
Participants of the Lazyman Triathlon will have the month of February to complete the events of an Ironman Triathlon -- swim 2.4 miles, bicycle 112 miles and run 26.2 miles. There is no substitute event for swimming. Additionally, participants may not use recumbent bikes, through upright and spin bikes are OK. No walking, however, treadmill is allowed. You must pre-register before Feb. 9 by emailing Seth Cannello. Upon registering, participants will receive a "calculator" that must be used to track progress. This calculator must be turned in no later than noon March 6 in order to receive credit for completing the event.

Colorado Avalanche holds military appreciation night
