SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Continuing Roth TSP contributions
If you wish to continue your Roth Thrift Savings Plan contributions, you must submit a new Roth TSP election on myPay or submit a TSP election form to your finance office during the time period Jan. 1-31, 2015.  Failure to do so will result in your Roth TSP contributions stopping after January 2015.  This requirement is due to pay system improvements that will more fully automate processing and provide better customer service to you.  Elections for Roth contributions for February 2015 will be accepted Jan. 1 to 31, 2015.  You may enroll online with myPay or submit the revised paper election form, TSP-U-1 to your finance office.  The revised TSP-U-1 (1/2015) will be available on www.tsp.gov on January 1st.  More information as well as worksheets to help you calculate your contribution will be available on www.dfas.mil in early December.  Please contact 2nd Lt. PA holds staff, family tour
The Public Affairs office is having a staff tour 10 a.m. till noon Nov. 13. We will be visiting a unit with OPS, NOG and MSG. Anyone interested in attending can sign up by sending an email to 50SWPA.workflow@us.af.mil by COB Nov. 10 or until all slots are filled.

The Broncos are coming to Schriever
Current and former players and cheerleaders from the Denver Broncos will be on Schriever Nov. 18 to speak with the amazing Airmen who make up Team Schriever. There will be an autograph signing in the Satellite Dish dining facility at 11:30 a.m. and in the Schriever Fitness Center at 2:30 p.m. Please show your support.

Leave carry over reverts back to 60 days
The 75-day leave carry over reverts back to 60 days this fiscal year. Therefore, Sept. 30, 2015, leave balances above 60 will be forfeited unless special leave accrual applies. Please note that your Leave and Earning Statement will continue to show 75 days until a mass update is made to the military pay system; the date of which is currently unknown. A&FRC holds Right Start briefing
The Airman and Family Readiness Center will be conducting the Right Start brief 8 a.m.- 3 p.m. Nov. 20 in the Building 300 auditorium. Newcomers to Schriever must attend this brief, which is specifically geared towards newly arrived military personnel, Department of Defense civilians and their families. Spouses are invited; but the sponsoring member must obtain a Visitors Pass at Pass and ID and provide escort duties. For information or to sign up, contact the A&FRC at 567-3920 or family@us.af.mil

Give Parents a Break
The Child Development Center offers respite care to referred active-duty Air Force families courtesy of the Air Force Aid Society on one Saturday morning or late afternoon each month.  The next session will be held from 9-2 p.m. Nov. 15.  A voucher is required to register, which eligible families may obtain through the Airman and Family Readiness Center, commander, first sergeant or chaplain.  Call the A&FRC at 567-3920 for more information.

TAP aims for smooth transition
The next Transition Assistance Program workshop will be 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Nov. 17-20. The class will be held at the Schriever Airman and Family Readiness Center classroom located in Building 101.  The last day concentrates on VA benefits and entitlements.  Pre-separation brief must be completed prior to attending the TAP workshop. TAP is offered every month. You must register for the workshop by calling 567-3920.  If you are unable to attend, the next class will be held in December; call now to reserve your seat.

A&FRC offers Technical Training Track
The Airman and Family Readiness Center will host a Technical Training Track at Peterson Air Force Base A&FRC. With all the changes to TAP, providing training or classes on a variety of options for new career choices is recommended. One of the "tracks" is the Technical Training Track, geared towards those who will be pursuing a technical career. This class will provide information on what is expected in terms of education, experience, certifications and much more. The class will be from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Nov. 20-21. Call the A&FRC at 567-3920 to sign up.

Civvies of Networking coming to Airman, Family Center
The Airman and Family Readiness Center is hosting "The Civvies of Networking" from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 13. Between 60 and 90 percent of jobs of are found through networking with friends, relatives, personal contacts, and professional organizations. Networking involves developing your contacts and connecting with people. If done well, it may lessen your job search time and turn personal contacts into interviews and, hopefully, job offers.  Speakers form local networking groups will be presenting information on the importance of networking and how to market yourself at networking events.

A&FRC provides pre-separation counseling briefing
The Airman and Family Readiness Center will host a pre-separation counseling briefing 9-11 p.m. Nov.14. This is the first step to separating or retiring from the military and the briefing is mandatory. Discussion will include registering for e-benefits, beginning an individual transition plan and the benefits and services available when you leave the military. Documentation of this briefing is accomplished through the completion of Department of Defense Form 2648. If you are a year from separation or two years from retirement, start the process. Call the A&FRC at 567-3920 to sign up.

Sand volleyball pit now open for play

Clinic offers stress management class
We realize that today you are doing more with less. It is important that we build resilience to deal with our changing environment. The 21st Medical Squadron Mental Health Clinic is offering a stress management class to teach relaxation skills and optimize wellbeing.  The class is open to all Schriever AFB personnel. Bring your lunch noon Nov.20 at the Chapel Resource Room in Building 300 Room 146. Empower yourself to be a resilient person.  Class is open to all Schriever personnel.

Reduce your stress by improving your sleep
Are you waking up tired?  Feeling unrefreshed or unrested? Having difficulties falling or staying asleep at night? Want a better night of sleep?  Nationally, one-third of the population experiences occasional sleep problems, yet only 10 percent of sleep problems are caused from medical conditions.  The remainders of sleep problems are caused by things we can control.  Come to the 21st MDS Mental Health Clinic's sleep enhancement class to find out how.  Bring you lunch noon Nov. 13 to Building 300, Room 146.  Class is open to all Schriever personnel.         

Military Retirees Activities Office to hold luncheon
The Military Retirees Activities office will hold a luncheon noon Nov. 13 at the Peterson Air Force Base Club Palmer Room. Army retired Command Sgt. Maj. Terrance McWilliams, El Pomar Foundation vice president for Military and Veteran Activities, will speak on legislation that may impact military retirees and their spouses. Lunch will be served at noon. Individuals do not need to be a club member to attend. Call the RAO at 556-7153 by Nov. 7 to make reservations.

Crime Prevention Tip
According to open source reports, there is a surge of cyber locksmiths popping up online and in application stores everywhere. websites and applications like, Keysduplicated.com, allows individuals to make copies of house and business keys with just a snap of a camera, with new keys delivered to your doorstep in just a few days. Anyone can take a photograph of someone else's house or businesses keys and have it duplicated. Currently vehicle keys cannot be duplicated; however, there are plans to do so soon. Individuals are highly encouraged to secure their keys at all times. If you have any questions, contact Staff Sgt. Steven McCoy at 567-5830.

In-service recruiter to hold Palace Front, Chase briefings
The Palace Chase and Palace Front briefings are held 10 a.m. Wednesdays in Building 26 (310th Space Wing Headquarters), Suite 106 (subject to change if TDY).  If you are interested in information about the Air Force Reserve Palace Front or Palace Chase Programs, please contact Master Sgt. Matthew Laney at 567-4494 or matthew.laney.1@us.af.mil. He is located in the Building 26, Suite 144. This building is outside the restricted area next to the Irwin Road gate entrance.

Federal Benefits Open Season
OPM has announced the Federal Benefits Open Season for the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, the Federal Flexible Spending Accounts Program and the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program will run from Nov. 10 through Dec. 8. FEHB changes will be effective Jan. 11. Detailed information regarding Open Season may be found on the OPM website at http://www.opm.gov/insure/openseason/index.asp. Employees can find detailed information on making an Open Season election on the myPers website at https://myPers.af.mil, keyword search 7665.

Building 730 bus stop to close
The Building 730 bus stop turn around will be closed for pavement rehabilitation until Dec. 1. Pedestrians will have alternate route to building during construction. Please be aware of potential delays. Please call Rodney Tassey at 567-3941 with any questions.
