SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Wing holds retreat Nov. 6
The 50th Space Wing will hold its monthly retreat 4:30 p.m. Nov. 6 at the wing headquarters.

Domestic Violence Awareness Presentation
A domestic violence awareness presentation will be held 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Nov. 6 in the Bldg. 300 auditorium. Movie screening and group discussion will be hosted and led by T. Martina Porter, Ph.D., Peterson Air Force Base Family Advocacy Outreach manager. For more information please call 567-2315.

Staff and Family Tour
The Public Affairs office is having a staff tour on Nov. 13 at 10 a.m. till noon. We will be visiting a unit with OPS, NOG and MSG. Anyone interested in attending can sign up by sending an email to 50SWPA.workflow@us.af.mil by COB Nov. 10 or until all slots are filled.

The Broncos are coming to Schriever!
Current and former players and cheerleaders from the Denver Broncos will be on Schriever Nov. 18 to speak with the amazing Airmen who make up Team Schriever. The will be an autograph signing in the Dish at 11:30 a.m. and in the Fitness Center at 2:30 p.m. Please show your support.

Fitness Center under Holiday Hours Nov. 11

Turkey Trot 2.5 Mile Run
The Fitness Center will host a Turkey Trot 2.5 mile run in conjunction with the 50SW Wing Run at 3pm on Nov. 12. The first 100 finishers will receive a free t-shirt. There will be prizes for the top 3 male and top 3 female finishers as well as 4 door prizes. No registration necessary. For more information, please call the Main Fitness Center at 567-6628.

Fort Carson presents "Last Days in Vietnam."

Attention motorcycle riders
In accordance with Air Force Instruction 91-207 and Department of Defense Instruction 6055.4, motorcycle riders must complete intermediate training within 60 days after initial training (basic rider's course), not to exceed one year. Additionally, motorcycle riders must complete refresher training every five years. Cost is reimbursable through the 50th Space Wing Safety Office by bringing your motorcycle safety foundation card and receipt to 50th Space Wing Safety Office - Bldg. 210, Room 148B. Clinic offers stress management class
We realize that today you are doing more with less. It is important that we build resilience to deal with our changing environment. The 21st Medical Squadron Mental Health Clinic is offering a stress management class to teach relaxation skills and optimize wellbeing.  The class is open to all Schriever AFB personnel. Bring your lunch noon Nov. 6 at the Chapel Resource Room in Building 300, Room 146. Empower yourself to be a resilient person.  Class is open to all Schriever personnel.
       
Military Retirees Activities Office to hold luncheon
The Military Retirees Activities office will hold a luncheon noon Nov. 13 at the Peterson Air Force Base Club Palmer Room. Army retired Command Sgt. Maj. Terrance McWilliams, El Pomar Foundation vice president for Military and Veteran Activities, will speak on legislation that may impact military retirees and their spouses.  Lunch will be served at noon. Individuals do not need to be a club member to attend.  Call the RAO at 556-7153 by Nov. 7 to make reservations.
 
Crime Prevention Tip
According to open source reports, there is a surge of cyber locksmiths popping up online and in application stores everywhere. Websites and applications like, Keysduplicated.com, allows individuals to make copies of house and business keys with just a snap of a camera, with new keys delivered to your doorstep in just a few days. Anyone can take a photograph of someone else's house or businesses keys and have it duplicated. Currently vehicle keys cannot be duplicated; however, there are plans to do so soon. Individuals are highly encouraged to secure their keys at all times. If you have any questions, contact Staff Sgt. Steven McCoy at 567-5830.

In-service recruiter to hold Palace Front, Chase briefings
The Palace Chase and Palace Front briefings are held 10 a.m. Wednesdays in Building 26 (310th Space Wing Headquarters), Suite 106 (subject to change if TDY).  If you are interested in information about the Air Force Reserve Palace Front or Palace Chase Programs, please contact Master Sgt. Matthew Laney at 567-4494 or matthew.laney.1@us.af.mil. He is located in the Building 26, Suite 144. This building is outside the restricted area next to the Irwin Road gate entrance. 

Building 730 bus stop to close
The Building 730 bus stop turn around will be closed for pavement rehabilitation from Nov. to Dec. 1. Pedestrians will have alternate route to building during construction. Please be aware of potential delays. Please call Rodney Tassey at 567-3941 with any questions.

Vanpool to Schriever - South Denver/Castle Pines/Castle Rock
Is the wear and tear of commuting taking a bite out of your car and your wallet?  Take advantage of of a vanpool!  Best news - for gov't civil service and active duty military, receive a gov't mass transit benefit to offset commuting costs.   So join our van pool.  The route includes the South Denver, Castle Pines/Rock, Monument, Black Forest/Woodmen area.  Final destination is Schriever AFB with arrival times between 7 and 7:15 a.m., Monday-Friday.  Call (719) 359-0343 for more information.
 
Free National Park Passes for 2015
The National Park Service will be issuing free Annual National Park Passes to Active Duty Military, National Guard, Reserves and their families on Nov. 6. The National Park Service will be at the Fitness Center from 8-10 a.m. and the Satellite Dish from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The pass is good for one year at all 401 National Park areas. Valid DoD Identification is required.They will also be issuing free Interagency Access Lifetime Park Passes. Veterans with any VA rated disability are authorized the Interagency Access Pass. Colorado Avalanche and Denver Nuggets Tickets on sale now

Parking lot closures scheduled for Nov. 1-2
Phased parking lot closures are scheduled for Nov. 1-2. The reason for the closures is to finish parking lot striping in north and west parking lots. All vehicles should follow all signage and cones in affected areas. Please call Rodney Tassey at 567-3941 with any questions.
  
50 SW invited to Ellicott Veterans Day commemoration
The Ellicott School District 22 will commemorate Veterans Day in its annual celebration of local military veterans and active-duty military. The commemoration will take place 2:30 p.m. Nov. 11 in the Ellicott High School gymnasium at 375 S. Ellicott Highway in Ellicott, Colorado. Representatives from the 50th Space Wing will be in attendance.

Learn what's new, what's now and what's next in résumé formats and processes 9-11 a.m. Nov. 4 at the Airman and Family Readiness Center. Bring your basic résumé already written and a job announcement to develop a tailored résumé. Call the A&FRC at 567-3920 to sign up.

TRICARE for transition offered at the A&FRC
The Airman and Family Readiness Center will host TRICARE for transition briefing 9-11 a.m. Nov. 6. This is an overview of TRICARE benefits. Discussion will include the difference between TRICARE Prime and TRICARE Standard, what needs to be accomplished if relocating or children are going to college in a different location and so much more. The 50th Space Wing is marching at the 2014 Colorado Springs Veterans Day Parade 10 a.m. Nov. 8 at downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado. This year's theme is "Honoring Veterans for 15 years."
