SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Promotion ceremony change
The promotion ceremony has been changed and will be held 3 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Schriever Fitness Center. Please be in place no later than 2:45 p.m.

Awards breakfast changes date
The third quarter awards breakfast will be held Nov. 3 at the Satellite Dish Dining Facility. Please be in place no later than 7:15 a.m.

Wing holds retreat Nov. 6
The 50th Space Wing will holds its monthly retreat 4:30 p.m. Nov. 6 at the wing headquarters.

A&FRC provides pre-separation counseling briefing
On Nov. 4 from 8-10 a.m., the Airman and Family Readiness Center will host a pre-separation counseling briefing. This is the first step to separating or retiring from the military and the briefing is mandatory. Discussion will include registering for e-benefits, beginning an individual transition plan and the benefits and services available when you leave the military. Documentation of this briefing is accomplished through the completion of Department of Defense Form 2648. If you are a year from separation or two years from retirement, start the process. Call the A&FRC at 567-3920 to sign.

Reduce stress, improve sleep
Are you waking up tired?  Feeling unrefreshed or unrested?  Having difficulties falling or staying asleep at night? Want a better night of sleep?  Nationally, one-third of the population experiences occasional sleep problems, yet only 10 percent of sleep problems are caused from medical conditions.  The remainders of sleep problems are caused by things we can control.  Come to the sleep enhancement class to find out how.  Bring you lunch noon Oct. 30 to the Chapel Resource Room in Building 300, Room 146.  Class is open to all Schriever personnel.

Clinic offers stress management class
We realize that today you are doing more with less. It is important that we build resilience to deal with our changing environment. The 21st Medical Squadron Mental Health Clinic is offering a stress management class to teach relaxation skills and optimize wellbeing.  The class is open to all Schriever AFB personnel. Bring your lunch noon Nov. 6 at the Chapel Resource Room in Building 300, Room 146. Empower yourself to be a resilient person.  Class is open to all Schriever personnel.       

Military Retirees Activities Office to hold luncheon
The Military Retirees Activities office will hold a luncheon noon Nov. 13 at the Peterson Air Force Base Club Palmer Room. Army retired Command Sgt. Maj. Terrance McWilliams, El Pomar Foundation vice president for Military and Veteran Activities, will speak on legislation that may impact military retirees and their spouses.  Lunch will be served at noon. Individuals do not need to be a club member to attend.  Call the RAO at 556-7153 by Nov. 7 to make reservations. 

Crime Prevention Tip
According to open source reports, there is a surge of cyber locksmiths popping up online and in application stores everywhere. Websites and applications like, Keysduplicated.com, allows individuals to make copies of house and business keys with just a snap of a camera, with new keys delivered to your doorstep in just a few days. Anyone can take a photograph of someone else's house or businesses keys and have it duplicated. Currently vehicle keys cannot be duplicated; however, there are plans to do so soon. Individuals are highly encouraged to secure their keys at all times. If you have any questions, contact Staff Sgt. Steven McCoy at 567-5830.

Gary Sollinger has been approved for the Voluntary Leave Transfer Program due to a family member's medical issues.  Should you like to donate leave to this employee, please do the following: 
1. Complete the OPM 630-A, Request to Donate Annual Leave to Leave Recipient Under the VLTP (within agency) http://www.opm.gov/FORMS/PDF_FILL/opm630a.pdf or https://www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/opm630b.pdf (outside agency)
2. You may scan the signed form and email it to Jaime Sampayo or fax to 567-2832.

In-service recruiter to hold Palace Front, Chase briefings
The Palace Chase and Palace Front briefings are held 10 a.m. Wednesdays in Building 26 (310th Space Wing Headquarters), Suite 106 (subject to change if TDY).  If you are interested in information about the Air Force Reserve Palace Front or Palace Chase Programs, please contact Master Sgt. Matthew Laney at 567-4494 . He is located in the Building 26, Suite 144. This building is outside the restricted area next to the Irwin Road gate entrance. 

Building 730 bus stop to close
The Building 730 bus stop turn around will be closed for pavement rehabilitation from Nov. to Dec. 1. Pedestrians will have alternate route to building during construction. Please be aware of potential delays. Please call Rodney Tassey at 567-3941 with any questions.

Clinic to hold flu vaccine line
The 21st Medical Squadron will have an influenza vaccination line 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 30 in Building 210 Heritage Room. The flu vaccine is available to active duty, retirees, dependents and Guard and Reserve members on active orders. If you have any questions, please call the Schriever Clinic at 567-5247.

Spouse networking comes to A&FRC
The Airman and Family Readiness Center is hosting a Networking for the Mobile Spouse class 9-11 a.m. Nov. 4. Between 60 and 90 percent of jobs of are found through networking with friends, relatives, personal contacts and professional organizations. Networking involves developing your contacts and connecting with people. If done well, it may lessen your job search time and turn personal contacts into interviews and, hopefully, job offers. Parking lot closures scheduled for Nov. 1-2
Phased parking lot closures are scheduled for Nov. 1-2. The reason for the closures is to finish parking lot striping in north and west parking lots. All vehicles should follow all signage and cones in affected areas. Please call Rodney Tassey at 567-3941 with any questions.  

50 SW invited to Ellicott Veterans Day commemoration
The Ellicott School District 22 will commemorate Veterans Day in its annual celebration of local military veterans and active-duty military. The commemoration will take place 2:30 p.m. Nov. 11 in the Ellicott High School gymnasium at 375 S. Ellicott Highway in Ellicott, Colorado. Representatives from the 50th Space Wing will be in attendance.

Learn to tailor your résumé
Learn what's new, what's now and what's next in résumé formats and processes 9-11 a.m. Nov. 4 at the Airman and Family Readiness Center. Bring your basic résumé already written and a job announcement to develop a tailored résumé. Call the A&FRC at 567-3920 to sign up.

TRICARE for transition offered at the A&FRC
The Airman and Family Readiness Center will host TRICARE for transition briefing 9-11 a.m. Nov. 6. This is an overview of TRICARE benefits. Discussion will include the difference between TRICARE Prime and TRICARE Standard, what needs to be accomplished if relocating or children are going to college in a different location and so much more. Call the A&FRC at 567-3920 to sign up.

The 50th Space Wing is marching at the 2014 Colorado Springs Veterans Day Parade 10 a.m. Nov. 8 at downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado. This year's theme is "Honoring Veterans for 15 years."
