Chief’s Corner - week of Oct. 2

SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- "...and that I will obey the orders..."

By uttering these words, every enlisted Airman commits him or herself to a term of service as an enlisted team member of the most powerful force the world has ever known.

Our mission is to fly, fight and win. We reaffirm our understanding of our mission and our role in it every time we recite the Airman's Creed.

My brief message this week is to remind you all of these simple facts and ask you to never take your responsibilities to the force lightly.  Our obligation to follow military orders are enforceable by law; specifically Article 92 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.  However, as an enlisted leader in an all-volunteer force, a characteristic that makes us truly great, I don't personally find it necessary to remind Airmen of this.

I would also encourage you all to make time to pause and reevaluate why you chose to serve.  I find this simple exercise pays dividends in refocusing back on the mission during times when the force is rapidly evolving and the world seems full of turmoil and uncertainty.

Thank you all for continuing to serve faithfully, passionately and honorably.
