SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- 50 MSG commander holds feedback on QFRB, promotion board
Col. Brian Barthel, 50th Mission Support Group commander, had an opportunity to sit on the Quality Force Review Board and an E-8 supplemental promotion board a few months ago. He would like to share his experience and viewpoints on the QFRB, Enlisted Retention Briefs and Enlisted Retention Recommendation Form processes as well as the E-8 supplemental promotion board. Colonel Barthel will hold a briefing 1-2:30 p.m. Aug. 28 in Building 300 auditorium. At the end of the brief, the floor will be open for any questions. This is open to all civilians, officers and enlisted members on Schriever.

First sergeants lead Schriever food drive
The Schriever First Sergeant Diamond Council is currently holding a Schriever Can Food Drive as part of the sixth annual 'Feds Feed Families" food drive campaign. Schriever has set a goal to reach 6,500 pounds of non-perishable items by Aug. 31. Individuals may bring items and drop them off to the drop-off locations (North and West Portals, Building 210 atrium, Schriever Fitness Center, community center, Child Development Center or first sergeants office). They may also visit http://vad.aidmatrix.org/vadxml.cfm?driveid=31635 for online donation. Some of the highly needed items are canned food, fruits and meat, cereal and oatmeal. 50 SW holds SNCO induction banquet
The 50th Space Wing Senior NCO Induction Banquet will be held Sept. 19 at the Peterson Air Force Base club. The medallion ceremony begins 5 p.m. Social hour starts 5:30 p.m. The banquet begins at 6 p.m. The cost of the event is $27 for members and non-members for all ranks and must be paid by cash or check only. Payment for meals at the door will not be available. Dress for military is mess dress or semi-formal. Civilian wear is formal or semi-formal attire. Deadline to purchase a meal ticket is Sept. 12. Ticket reps are: Master Sgt. Adam McNeill (NOG), Master Sgt. Fernando Santos (OG), Master Sgt. Jennifer O'Quinn (WSA), Master Sgt. Tonya Jones (MSG) and Master Sgt. Darrin Donovan (MSG). Military Retiree Activities holds meetings
The Military Retiree Activities office holds a luncheon at noon the second Thursday of each month at the Peterson Air Force Base Club, followed by its monthly council meeting at 2:30 p.m. in Building 350, Room 1206. The guest speaker on Sept. 11 will be Drew Aquino, who will speak about the YMCA and all of its benefits to the Military Retirees. 50 SW command chief holds enlisted call
The 50th Space Wing command chief will be hosting an enlisted call 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sept. 4 in the Building 300 auditorium. Schriever celebrates Diversity Day
Schriever Diversity Day is a day to celebrate and embrace our differences, no mater what race, religion, gender, age, nationality or disability. Change in pool policy coming
Non-housing residents will not be allowed to swim at the Tierra Vista Pool after Aug. 22. The pool will also be closed to lap swimming 8:30-10 a.m. Aug. 22 due to the 10th annual Schriever Triathlon. For more information, please call the Schriever Fitness Center at 567-6628.

RecOn trip set to Pikes Peak
The Outdoor Recreation will be having a RecOn trip Sept. 13. Cost is only $5 and includes lunch, transportation and all the equipment you will need. We will meet at 7 a.m. in town; ride the Cog Railroad up to the top of Pikes Peak where bikes will meet us for our guided trip down on the road. We will then ride to the Wines of Colorado and have lunch, and expect to be back by 2 p.m. Space is limited, so register by Sept. 5. For more information, contact Korey at 567-6050.

In-service recruiter briefs Palace Front, Palace Chase
Palace Chase and Palace Front briefings are held 10 a.m. Wednesdays in Building 26 (310th Space Wing Headquarters), Suite 106 (subject to change if TDY). If you are interested in information about the Air Force Reserve Palace Front or Palace Chase programs, please contact Master Sgt. Matthew Laney at 567-4494. He is located in Building 26, Suite 144. This building is outside the restricted area next to the Irwin Road gate entrance.

Schriever to migrate SIPRNet email
The Department of Defense is directing migration of SIPRNet email services from the existing Air Force managed configuration to a DISA enterprise solution. Schriever's migration is scheduled for October. Changes to email functionality will be minor for users, but all SIPRNet email users and organizational account managers must perform pre-migration actions to ensure compliance and avoid mission impact. Throughout the coming weeks, you will receive emails on when and how to complete your checklist. If you have any questions at this time, please contact the CFP at 567-2666 option 2.

Wing holds monthly promotion ceremony
The monthly promotion recognition ceremony will be held 3 p.m. Aug. 28 at the Schriever Fitness Center. Please come out and support your unit's promotees.

Turn in hazardous waste material
Unwanted or needed chemicals shall be turned in to Building 660, the hazardous waste accumulation site. The 50th Civil Engineer Squadron Environmental Flight will determine which items is free issue, non-regulated or hazardous waste. Do not drop off potentially hazardous items at Building 613, the HAZMAT pharmacy. Pharmacy is not approved to handle potentially waste like materials. If your unit has a hazardous materials monitor, please check with them on the proper procedures for potentially hazardous waste turn-in or contact Doug Chase at 567-4242.

Contractors to apply stripes to parking lots
Contractor will be applying stripes on the base parking lots during the weekends. Team Schriever members should be aware of parking lot closures and avoid parking in those areas during planned paint striping. Most of the work will be done during weekends to avoid major impact to the base populace. Any updates to parking lot closures will be made available as they develop. Please see attached map for closure dates. The stripes application commences the weekend of Aug. 23 and should be completed by Oct. 29.
