Base Bulletin - week of July 17

SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Base picnic volunteers needed
The 2014 Summer Slam Base Picnic will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 18 at Schriever Air Force Base. Volunteers are needed for various activities before, during and after the event. Those interested in volunteering should contact Mary Barkley at 567-5464. Call today to sign up for your preferred spot.

Schriever holds Rough and Tough Scramble
In conjunction with Schriever Week, the base will be sponsoring a mud run for all Schriever military, civilian and families July 17. The event is free. The course runs approximately 2 miles long with 15 obstacles including mud pits/crawls/climbs and much more. You can run as a team of four and represent your unit or run as an individual. There will be awards for the first three teams and individual awards for male and female. We will also have a category for best team costume, so be creative. To register, contact Tech. Sgt. Scramble needs volunteers
As a part of Schriever Week, the base will be holding Tough and Rough Scramble 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 17. This is a "Warrior Dash" style obstacle course race. As such, the volunteersWe hope to see a lot of need a lot of volunteers. We need six people for setup on July 16. During the event, we need 31 people. Following the event, we need six people. Military Retiree Activities holds meetings
The Military Retiree Activities office holds a luncheon at noon the second Thursday of each month at the Peterson Air Force Base Club, followed by its monthly council meeting at 2:30 p.m. in Building 350, Room 1206. The guest speaker on Aug. 14 will be Jose Rodriqez, who will speak about the Peterson and Schriever Air Force Base Military Housing Office offering housing for the Military Retirees. Remember to recycle clamshells
Did you know that the to-go food containers (clamshells) can be recycled? All clamshell containers and cups from the dining facilities may be placed in recycling bins. Please scrape large chunks of food into the trash prior to placing in recycling. For more information, please contact 567-3910.

Connect to fitness center Wi-Fi
The Schriever Fitness Center now has Wi-Fi access throughout the facility. The network name is "gym". A password is not required to connect to the network. For more information, please call the fitness center at 567-6628.

Grab free Sky Sox vouchers
The Colorado Sky Sox Military Appreciation Games will continue 7:05 p.m. July 31. Free vouchers are available on a first come first served basis at the Schriever Fitness Center, Outdoor Recreation and at the Wizards Brew Coffee Shop. Vouchers must be redeemed at the Sky Sox box office prior to the day of the game to ensure that seating is still available. For more information on the vouchers, please call 567-3588.

In-service recruiter holds Palace Front, Palace Chase briefings
Palace Chase and Palace Front briefings are held 10 a.m. Wednesdays in Building 26 (310th Space Wing Headquarters), Suite 106 (subject to change if TDY). If you are interested in information about the Air Force Reserve Palace Front or Palace Chase Programs, please contact your Air Force Reserve In-Service recruiter, Master Sgt. Matthew Laney at 567-4494 or matthew.laney.1@us.af.mil . He is located in the Building 26, Suite 144. This building is outside the restricted area next to the Irwin Road gate entrance.
