The mythical beast comprising the emblem of the 50th Space Wing is what kind of creature? BONUS: From where did the wing derive its emblem? The beast is an Opinicus, similar to the Gryphon or Griffin. The emblem was first used by the 50th Pursuit (now Operations) Group beginning in 1942.
