SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- 50 SW holds Opinicus Vista 14-1

A&FRC hosts 'Boots to Business'
A two-day Boots to Business workshop is offered from the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University, the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Discover if starting a business is right for you, if your business idea is feasible and much more. The workshop will be held at Schriever Airman and Family Readiness Center 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 5-6. Contact the Schriever A&FRC at 567-3920 to sign up.

Car Buying Class

Understand the process of car buying and how to finance your next car at the Airman and Family Readiness Center 11 a.m. to noon March 3. Call 567-3920 to sign up.

A&FRC helps Airmen plan for transition from dorm to off-base living
The dorm move class is geared toward all Airmen anticipating moving out of the dorms within six months to a year. This class will teach Airmen how to identify how much money is needed to afford to live off base, how to project a budget based on monthly expenditures and how to decide if the individual is financially fit to move out of the dorms. The class will be held 2-3:30 p.m. March 5 at the Airman and Family Readiness Center. Please call 567-3920 to sign up.

Give parents a break
The Child Development Center offers respite care to referred active-duty Air Force families courtesy of the Air Force Aid Society on one Saturday morning or late afternoon each month. The next session will be held 9 a.m. -2 p.m. March 8. A voucher is required to register, which eligible families may obtain through the Airman and Family Readiness Center, commander, first sergeant or chaplain. Moving made simple

The Airman and Family Readiness Center will host a Moving Made Simple briefing for military members, Department of Defense civilians and their families 8-11:30 a.m. March 6. This briefing is designed to help reduce the stress and confusion often associated with moving and provides resources tailored for the individual or family. Representatives from finance, JPPSO and TRICARE will be available to answer any question about processes and entitlements. There will be a Going Overseas portion to address the unique needs of those moving overseas. Call 567-3920 to sign up.

A&FRC provides pre-separation counseling briefing
The Airman and Family Readiness Center will host a pre-separation counseling briefing 2-4 p.m. March 4 and 6. This is the first step to separating or retiring from the military and the briefing is mandatory. Discussion will include registering for e-benefits, beginning an individual transition plan and the benefits and services available when you leave the military. Documentation of this briefing is accomplished through the completion of Department of Defense Form 2648. If you are a year from separation or two years from retirement, start the process. Call the A&FRC at 567-3920.

ODR/ITT postpones ticket sales Feb. 27-28
The Outdoor Recreation and Information Travel and Tickets will be doing some repairs in the outdoor in Building 300 Feb. 27-28. As a result, the office will be unable to offer ticket sales on either day. However, the office will still be open for food sales. Please enter through the Framing and Engraving shop door during the repairs. We apologize for the inconvenience.     

Colorado Avalanche offers military appreciation night
March 2 is this year's installment of the Colorado Avalanche Military Appreciation night. Buy your discounted tickets at the Outdoor Recreation and Information Travel and Tickets office now. Watch the Avalanche take on the Tampa Bay Lightning 6 p.m. March 2. Ticket prices are $20 and $40.

Outdoor Rec hosts RecOn dogsledding, snowmobiling
Outdoor Recreation, in conjunction with Good Times Adventures in Breckenridge, will host a RecOn event March 25. Participants will go dogsledding in the morning, eat lunch and snowmobile in the afternoon. The trip leaves Schriever at approximately 9 a.m. and return at approximately 4 p.m. The trip is open to all personnel who have returned from a deployment in the last year; families are welcomed. Palace Chase and Palace Front briefings are held 10 a.m. Wednesday in Building 26(310th Space Wing Headquarters) Suite 106(subject to change if TDY). March 5 marks the beginning of the Lenten season, a time for self-examination and self-denial to focus on the gift of Easter. Seeking Falcon vanpool riders
Space is available for a vanpool that originates from Falcon Walmart (Woodmen and Meridian Market View Road). The van departs 6:25 a.m. weekdays and arrives at Schriever 6:55 a.m. At the end of the duty day, the van departs Schriever AFB at 4:10 p.m. and arrives at Falcon Walmart 4:40 p.m. Drop off and pickup points on Schriever AFB may vary. Reduce stress by improving sleep
Are you waking up tired? Feeling unrefreshed or unrested? Having difficulties falling or staying asleep at night? Want a better night of sleep? Nationally, one-third of the population experiences occasional sleep problems yet only 10 percent of sleep problems are caused from medical conditions. The remainders of sleep problems are caused by things we can control. Come to the sleep enhancement class to find out how you can get a better night's sleep. Legal assistance website saves time
You may fill out an online worksheet prior to your visit to the legal office for expedited service. Worksheet topics include wills, advance medical directives and powers of attorney. No legal documents can be printed from this website. Please visit the legal office to obtain your document. Only Air Force legal offices have access to the data you enter here, and data you enter is deleted after 90 days. Please bring your ticket number with you. Legal office personnel will not be able to to access your worksheet without the ticket number. For more information, visit

Armed Forces community run
The 21st Force Support Squadron hosts the 2014 Armed Forces Community Run 8 a.m. May 10 at Peterson Air Force Base. It's a 5K/10K run open to the public. There will be live music by Blue Steel, sponsor and vendor booths and refreshments available. Entry fee is $30 through May 9; entry fee on race day is $35.
