On Jan. 30, 1992, the 50th Tactical Fighter Wing was renamed 50th Space Wing and activated at Falcon AFB (now Schriever), Colo. When, and under what name, did this wing first activate? Bonus: To what installation was the wing assigned at that time? The 50th Space Wing first activated in the Air Force Reserve as the 50th Fighter Wing June 1, 1949. The wing was stationed at Otis AFB, Mass., and served as the associate unit of the active-duty 33rd Fighter Wing.
