SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- AFA hosts 2014 Air Force Ball
The 2014 Air Force Ball will take place 6-11:30 p.m. Feb. 14 at the Broadmoor Hotel. To purchase tickets, visit Air Force Association website at www.afasijan.com. For additional information and the menu, click on "More Info / Menu" link on the website. The Broadmoor is also offering rooms at $145 for those attending the ball. Ticket sales close Feb. 5. Tryouts for annual awards emcee, singer open
Tryouts to emcee or sing the National Anthem at the 50th Space Wing annual awards ceremony will be conducted 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 21 in Building 210, Room 211 (50th Force Support Squadron Conference Room). Please contact Master Sgt. Greg Monck at 567-6016 to schedule your audition time. We're searching for that perfect duo who will truly honor our colleagues on their great accomplishments for 2013. The only requirement is the emcees must have a mess dress uniform while National Anthem soloist will perform in semi-formal uniform.

IG conducts Opinicus Vista 14-1
From March 10-12, the 50th Space Wing Inspector General will be conducting Opinicus Vista 14-1 encompassing all 50 SW and tenant units. Ground Rules will be distributed the week prior to the event. For questions or concerns, please contact Staff Sgt. Dustin Mozader at 567-3069.

Committee looks for awards banquet designated drivers
The Annual Awards Banquet committee is looking for a few good men and women to volunteer as designated drivers for this year's event. The banquet is Feb. 7 and volunteers are requested in place at the Peterson Club by 6:30 p.m. Dress requirement is business attire (or mess-dress/semi-formal) and the committee will pay for the meals of the first five designated drivers to volunteer. Dress for Success class comes to A&FRC
The Schriever Airman and Family Readiness Center will host a Dress for Success class 9-11 a.m. Jan. 24 in Building 101. Take the guess out of what to wear. What you wear to a job interview does matter. Your appearance is one of the first things people notice and first impressions are usually made within the first 30 seconds. This class will help transitioning military members dress for their new civilian jobs. Call 567-3920 to sign up.

A&FRC holds LinkedIn class
The Schriever Airman and Family Readiness Center will host a LinkedIn class 9-11 a.m. Jan. 22 in Building 101. A top priority resource for any job seeker, LinkedIn is the world's largest online professional network with millions of members. This class covers information for the absolute beginner to the advanced LinkedIn user. Learn how to get the most out of a LinkedIn account. Call 567-3920 to sign up for the class.

A&FRC provides pre-separation counseling briefing
The Airman and Family Readiness Center will host a pre-separation counseling briefing 8-10 a.m. Jan. 21. This is the first step to separating or retiring from the military and the briefing is mandatory. Discussion will include registering for e-benefits, beginning an individual transition plan and the benefits and services available when you leave the military. Documentation of this briefing is accomplished through the completion of Department of Defense Form 2648. If you are a year from separation or two years from retirement, start the process. Call the A&FRC at 567-3920 to sign up.

Show your strength at bench press, deadlift competition
Are you the strongest? Lift the greatest percentage of bodyweight and prove it. A bench press and deadlift competition will be held at the fitness center 9 a.m. Jan. 24. There will be prizes for the top three males and top three females in each category (bench press, deadlift and overall). Grab free Colorado College hockey tickets
The 50th Force Support Squadron has received a donation of 100 Colorado College hockey tickets for the game 7 p.m. Jan. 18. The tickets will be handed out on a first come first served basis at the main fitness center and Outdoor Recreation to any member of Schriever AFB. For more information please call 567-3588.

Base movie volunteers needed
We are looking for volunteers to assist with movies being shown on base. The movies are shown either at the Tierra Vista Community Center or Building T-135. Movies alternate between Friday and Saturday with showings at 3 and 6 p.m. The movies shown on these days are G, PG or PG-13. There is one adult showing the last Wednesday of the month of an R rated movie. Please call Karen Draper at 567-2525 for more information or to volunteer.

Florida holds special election March 11
Florida will hold a special election for the U.S. House of Representative for CD-13 to fill the seat vacated by Bill Young on March 11. Florida voters from this district should act quickly to register or request absentee ballots . See your unit voting assistance officer or the installation voting assistance officer for questions or forms. Additional help can be found at the FVAP website (www.fvap.gov).

Grant provides child support assistance to service members
A federal grant for Colorado will assist service members with child support and related issues. El Paso County Child Support Services will provide assistance to parents provided at least one parent is active duty. A representative will be at Schriever AFB 1-3 p.m. Jan. 27at the 50th Space Wing Legal Office to assist service members and their families. Legal assistance website saves time
You may fill out an online worksheet prior to your visit to the legal office for expedited service. Worksheet topics include wills, advance medical directives, and powers of attorney. No legal documents can be printed from this website - please visit the Schriever Legal office to obtain your document. Only Air Force legal offices have access to the data you enter here, and the data you enter is deleted after 90 days. Please bring your ticket number with you. Legal office personnel will not be able to to access your worksheet without the ticket number. Visit https://aflegalassistance.law.af.mil for more information.

50 SW holds MLK ceremony
Please join us as we celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Hear Pastor Robert Gelinas speak on "King's Dream, King's Nightmare" 1 p.m. Jan. 15 in the Building 210 atrium. Gelinas is lead pastor of Colorado Community Church in Aurora, Colo., founder of Project 1.27, an adoption ministry that encourages the adoption of every child in the state's foster care system, author and international speaker. TVC holds town hall meeting
Tierra Vista Communities will host its quarterly community information (town hall) meeting 5:30 p.m. Jan. 30 at the community center. Discussion items include community enrichment council updates, weather and winterization tips, utility billing/conservation programs, community support updates and review scheduled community events for February-April. 50 SCS modifies customer service hours
Due to manpower requirements in preparation for the upcoming Schriever Command Cyber Readiness Inspection, 50th Space Communications Squadron must modify customer service hours for SIPR Token/Local Register Authority service (SIPR Token issuance, PIN resets, etc). From Jan. 13-Feb. 14, customers should use the following locations and times: 8-10 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Building 301, Room 120; 2:30-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday at Building 400, MOD 3 and 4.
