SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Military services hold Retiree Appreciation Day
Attention military retirees: Please join us for the annual Joint Forces Retiree Appreciation Day Jan. 11 at the Fort Carson Special Events Center located at 6550 Specker Avenue, Building 1829 from 9 a.m. to noon. Events and services include a continental breakfast, flu shots, medical and dental services, identification cards, legal advice, such as powers of attorney and living wills. There will also be a variety of free items given away. Please contact Senior Master Sgt. Christine Wall at 567-4468 or Master Sgt. Darren Williams at 567-2976 with any questions or concerns.

Moving made simple
The Airman and Family Readiness Center will host a Moving Made Simple briefing for military members, Department of Defense civilians and their families 8-11:30 a.m. Jan. 9. This briefing is designed to help reduce the stress and confusion often associated with moving and provides resources tailored for the individual or family. Representatives from finance, JPPSO and TRICARE will be available to answer any question about processes and entitlements. There will be a Going Overseas portion to address the unique needs of those moving overseas. Call 567-3920 to sign up.

A&FRC provides pre-separation counseling briefing
The Airman and Family Readiness Center will host a pre-separation counseling briefing 2-4 p.m. Jan.21. This is the first step to separating or retiring from the military and the briefing is mandatory. Discussion will include registering for e-benefits, beginning an individual transition plan and the benefits and services available when you leave the military. Documentation of this briefing is accomplished through the completion of Department of Defense Form 2648. If you are a year from separation or two years from retirement, start the process. Call the A&FRC at 567-3920 to sign up.

A&FRC holds Right Start briefing
The Airman and Family Readiness Center will be conducting a Right Start brief from 8 a.m.- 3 p.m. Jan. 16 in the Building 300 Auditorium. Newcomers to Schriever must attend this brief, which is specifically geared towards newly arrived military personnel, Department of Defense civilians and their families. Spouses are invited; but the sponsoring member must obtain a Visitors Pass at Pass and ID and provide escort duties. For information or to sign up, contact the A&FRC at 567-3920.

Part day enrichment program offered
The Schriever Child Development Center will be starting a Part Day Enrichment Program. The Part Day Enrichment Program is for children ages 3-5 whose parents do not need full-day care, but would like their children to participate in an early childhood program. The curriculum will focus on all areas of development to include creative, physical, social and cognitive development. The program will run Monday, Wednesday and Friday with the option of a morning or afternoon class, and Tuesday and Thursday with a morning class only. The morning sessions will be 8-11 a.m. while the afternoon sessions will be 1:30-3:30 p.m. Space is still available, register today.

Denver Nuggets will hold a military appreciation night Jan. 17. Buy your discounted tickets at the Outdoor Recreation and Information Travel and Tickets office now. Watch the Nuggets take on the Cleveland Cavaliers Jan. 17 at 7 pm.

Reserve recruiter holds Palace Front, Chase briefings
The Palace Chase and Palace Front briefings are held each Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Building 26 (310th Space Wing headquarters), Suite 106 (subject to change if TDY). If you are interested in information about the Air Force Reserve Palace Front or Palace Chase Programs, please contact your Air Force Reserve In-Service Recruiter Master Sgt. Matthew Laney at 567-4494. He is located in Building 26, Suite 144. This building is outside the restricted area next to the Irwin Road Gate entrance.

Professional Writing Seminar
The Professional Writing Seminar is 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 16 in Building 210 Room 310. The seminar is a one-day course designed to develop and enhance your Air Force writing skills. 50 SW celebrates Dr. King's life
Please join us as we celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Hear Pastor Robert Gelinas speak on "King's Dream, King's Nightmare" 1 p.m. Jan. 15 in the Building 210 Atrium. Gelinas is the lead pastor of Colorado Community Church in Aurora, Colo., founder of Project 1.27, an adoption ministry that encourages the adoption of every child in the state's foster care system, author and international speaker.
