History Quiz – Week of May 19

SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. --

Last week’s question and answer:

On May 6, 1941, the aircraft that the 50th Fighter (now Operations) Group would fly in combat during World War II made its first flight.  What was that aircraft?  That aircraft was the P-47 Thunderbolt (also known as the Jug).

This week’s question:

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of Desert Storm.  The 50th Tactical Fighter Wing (now 50th Space Wing) sent which of its squadrons to the Middle East for combat operations during the operation?  Bonus: On what date did that squadron leave Hahn Air Base?

Responses to the quiz questions can be emailed to the 50th Space Wing historian at 50swhoworkflow@us.af.mil.
