West gate closure
On Friday, the West gate will close at noon for the Fourth of July weekend, and will not reopen until 6 a.m. on Tuesday.
Wing holds Warfit Run
The 50th Space Wing is holding the monthly Warfit Run with show time no later than 7:15 a.m. and run time at 7:30 a.m. July 6 at the Schriever Fitness Center. Reveille will be a part of the Warfit run and there will be no separate reveille this month. The uniform for all Airmen is the Air Force physical training uniform. Unit morale shirts are authorized unless otherwise directed.
Register for Green Dot Training (2016 SAPR requirement)
Registration is now open for Green Dot overview sessions (to meet the 2016 Sexual Assault Prevention and Response requirement). All personnel can register for an overview session on the FSS SharePoint (https://cs3.eis.af.mil/sites/OO-ED-SP-14/default.aspx). If you initially get a "denied access" error, simply press the request access link in the bottom of the error box and you will receive an email when access is granted. Classes are offered 2 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday, and 9 a.m. every Friday in the Building 300 auditorium. Class sizes are limited to 50.
Schriever chapel offers family retreat
It’s that time of year again. The Schriever chapel will host another family retreat in the mountains, Aug. 12-14. First come, first served. Contact the chapel to register at 567-3705 or by email at 50SWHC_Workflow@us.af.mil.
IG office releases June newsletter
The 50th Space Wing Inspector General office has released the June newsletter. Topics include the waiver approval process; MICT, IGEMS and FAM information; innovator of the month; and upcoming inspections.
The 50th Space Wing Plans and Programs office has seven red chairs and six black chairs available for anyone who would like to pick them up. They are located in Building 210, Room 228B. If you have any questions, contact James Covlin at 567-6631.
Cadet sponsor program needs host families
The U.S. Air Force Academy Cadet Sponsor Program needs your help. The Academy Class of 2020 is due to arrive June 30. We are looking for sponsor families to build a professional mentoring relationship and provide a home-away-from-home to incoming cadets. Sponsor families are essential contributors toward the growth and development of cadets in their commissioning journey.
Eligible sponsors are: active duty, retired and Reserve military members; O-3 and above, E-6 and above, DoD equivalent GS-05 and above and also eligible civilian community members.
The basic cadets are scheduled to meet their sponsors at the Doolie Day Out event at the Academy July 23. The deadline to sign up is July 7. We are also taking requests to sponsor cadets for the academic year (through graduation year) no later than Aug. 14.
