OSI, PA to hold social media briefs
The local Air Force Office of Special Investigation and Public Affairs staff have partnered to talk with children about smart social media use.  The next briefings will be held 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. today in the Tierra Vista Community Center briefing room.  The 10 a.m. brief will target 5-12 year olds and the 5 p.m. brief is for youth 13-18 years old.  For more information, please call 567-5040.

The Shred Truck is Coming
The Shred Truck will be on base from 9 – 11 a.m. Wednesday in front of Building 300 in the restricted area and 9 – 11 a.m. Thursday in front of Building 210.

Schriever honors promotees E-6 promotees
Come join us to recognize our newest technical sergeants 3 p.m. Thursday at the Schriever Air Force Base Fitness Center. The official public release date for the 16E6 (technical sergeant) promotion cycle will be 7 a.m. Thursday, Mountain Standard Time. Promotion results will be released on myPers and the AF Portal. Selects from this promotion board will have promotions starting in August.

Funeral to be held for Staff Sgt. Ashton Robinson
There will be a funeral held for Staff Sgt. Ashton Robinson 10 a.m. Saturday at the Peterson Chapel. There will be a viewing at 9 a.m.  In addition, the 11th Space Warning Squadron will provide lunch with Ashton’s family at 11 a.m. after the funeral.

Wing Holiday Party Planning
Our next Wing Holiday party meeting is 2 – 3 p.m. July 28 in Building 300 Room 302. We are looking for some great ideas to make this a fabulous event.  This is an excellent volunteer opportunity and we are looking for a lot of positions to be filled.  If you are interested in attending or have any questions please contact Senior Master Sgt. Gregory Artis at 567-4652 or Janice Webb at 567-3016. All Schriever Air Force Base personnel are welcome: Airmen, NCOs, SNCOs, civilians, officers and contractors.

Ellicott holds back to school day on Schriever
The Ellicott School District is holding a back to school registration day 9 a.m. – noon Aug. 1, at the Tierra Vista Community Center. Physicals will be held 8 – 11 a.m. at the base clinic by appointment only. Immunizations and immunization record reviews can be carried out at the clinic as well, but are not constrained to the physicals time slot. Register for Green Dot Training
Registration is now open for Green Dot overview sessions (to meet the 2016 Sexual Assault Prevention and Response requirement). All personnel can register for an overview session at <> on the FSS SharePoint. If you initially get a "denied access" error, simply press the request access link in the bottom of the error box and you will receive an email when access is granted. Classes are offered 2 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday, and 9 a.m. every Friday in the Building 300 auditorium. Class sizes are limited to 50.

Finance Office Closure
The Finance customer service counter will be closed Aug. 5, from noon to 4:30 p.m.  This closure is due to an official function. 

Schriever Chapel August 2016 Family Retreat

TEDxSchriever: Strengthening Communities

A community is more than just a group of people who live in the same area. It’s the history and culture of the area, it’s the economy and interests of the society, and the sense of ownership, pride and passion of the people. Join us 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 12 in the Building 300 Auditorium as we explore what our communities are, who lives there and what we are doing to strengthen them. Varsity Basketball Tryouts
The Peterson-Schriever varsity basketball team will begin tryouts at the Peterson AFB fitness center at 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday beginning Tuesday. Master Sgt. Abifarin Scott from 2nd Space Operations Squadron is the head coach this year with Master Sgt. Robert Shaw from 4th Space Operations Squadron as the assistant head coach. Please feel free to contact either of them with any questions regarding the team, tryouts or the varsity program in general. 

Military Retirees Activities Office holds monthly luncheon
The Military Retiree Activities office holds a luncheon at noon the second Thursday of each month at the Peterson Air Force Base club, followed by its monthly council meeting at 2:30 p.m. in Building 350, Room 1206. The guest speaker for the guest Speaker for Aug. 11, will be John Lannefeld, the Area IV Representative to the Air Force Retiree Council. Please call 719-556-7153 for more information.

Society opens door to military widows
The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets 10:30 a.m. the last Wednesday of the month at the Peterson Air Force Base club. Call 597-0492 or 591-9523 for more information.
