Announcement for deceased

Clinic announces closure
The Schriever medical clinic will be closed the following dates/times:

Aug. 10                 7:30 – 9 a.m.      Wing Warfit

Aug. 10                 2 – 4: 30 p.m.    Training Day

Sept. 2                  ALL DAY                                Family Day

Sept. 5                  ALL DAY                                Holiday

Sept. 14                2 – 4:30 p.m.                      Training Day

Note: The clinic closes Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. for physical training. Normal clinic hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. For emergencies call 911. For appointments please call 524-CARE.

Updated Legal Assistance Hours
Effective Aug. 1, and until further notice, walk-in legal assistance hours will be offered weekly only from 1 – 3 p.m. on Tuesdays.  Notary services and powers of attorney are still available on a walk-in basis between 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. on duty days.  Wills are done by appointment from 1 – 3 p.m. only on Wednesdays.  Please contact the legal office at 719-567-5050 with any questions or to schedule a will appointment.

Updated MPS hours
For personnel seeking new Common Access Cards and IDs, the hours will remain 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. For all other matters, walk-in hours will be from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.  If you need to meet with a Military Personnel Section technician outside those hours, you may do so by appointment only.

In-processing will be conducted every morning at 7:30 a.m.  If a new member is unable to make the 7:30 a.m. time, please ensure they attend the following morning.

IG Office Releases July Newsletter

The 50th Space Wing Inspector General office has released the July newsletter. Topics

include lessons learned from the Opernicus Vista 16-2 exercise, Innovator of the month, and upcoming inspections.

 

50th Comptroller Squadron closure
The 50th Comptroller Squadron will close on at noon Friday, Aug. 5 for an official function.  Please contact 719-237-5863 for questions or emergencies.

IG Commander’s Inspection Program discussion
Please join the 50 Space Wing Inspector General’s office for an informative discussion about the

Commander's Inspection Program. We are also available to answer any questions regarding Inspections and the role of the IG. All are welcome to attend any of the offerings below! The following three sessions are available:

Tuesday, 16 Aug: Bldg 300 Auditorium, 9 a.m.-10 a.m.

Wednesday, 17 Aug: Bldg 300 Auditorium, 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Thursday, 18 Aug: Bldg 210 Wing Conference Rm, noon- 1 p.m.

Wing Holiday Party Planning
Our next Wing Holiday party meeting is 2 – 3 p.m. Thursday in Building 300, Room 302. We are looking for some great ideas to make this a fabulous event.  This is an excellent volunteer opportunity and we are looking for a lot of positions to be filled.  If you are interested in attending or have any questions please contact Senior Master Sgt. Gregory Artis at 567-4652 or Janice Webb at 567-3016. All Schriever Air Force Base personnel are welcome: Airmen, NCOs, SNCOs, civilians, officers and contractors.

Ellicott holds back to school day on Schriever
The Ellicott School District is holding a back to school registration day 9 a.m. – noon Monday, at the Tierra Vista Community Center. Physicals will be held 8 – 11 a.m. at the base clinic by appointment only. Immunizations and immunization record reviews can be carried out at the clinic as well, but are not constrained to the physicals time slot. Parents interested in registering their child(ren) can call the appointment line 719-524-2273. For more information, contact Lt. Col. Joseph Huseman or Tech. Sgt. Richard Keene at 567-3232.

Register for Green Dot training
Registration is now open for Green Dot overview sessions (to meet the 2016 Sexual Assault Prevention and Response requirement). All personnel can register for an overview session on the FSS SharePoint. If you initially get a "denied access" error, simply press the request access link in the bottom of the error box and you will receive an email when access is granted. Classes are offered 2 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday, and 9 a.m. every Friday in the Building 300 auditorium. Class sizes are limited to 50.

Chapel holds family retreat  
It's that time of year again. Your Schriever Chapel will host another amazing family retreat in the mountains, Aug. 12 - 14. First come, first served. Please contact the chapel to register at 719-567-3705 or by email at 50SWHC_Workflow@us.af.mil.

TEDxSchriever: Strengthening Communities
A community is more than just a group of people who live in the same area. It’s the history and culture of the area, the economy and interests of the society, and the sense of ownership, pride and passion of the people. Join us 9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.  Aug. 12 in the Building 300 auditorium as we explore what our communities are, who lives there and what we are doing to strengthen them. Off-base

310 MSG moves from Buckley AFB to Schriever AFB
The 310th Mission Support Group is moving from Buckley Air Force Base to Schriever Air Force Base Aug. 6. Originally approved by the Secretary of the Air Force Apr. 8, 2015, with congressional notification Apr. 15, 2015, Air Force Reserve Command is authorized to move the 310 MSG and 310 FSS effective Aug. 5, affecting 72 people. A satellite unit and the 710th Security Forces Squadron will remain at Buckely. A departure ceremony will be held 1 p.m., Aug. 6, at building 392 on Buckley and a ribbon cutting/opening ceremony, 9 a.m., Aug. 7, at Building 26 on Schriever.

Military Retirees Activities Office holds monthly luncheon  
The Military Retiree Activities office holds a luncheon at noon the second Thursday of each month at the Peterson Air Force Base club, followed by its monthly council meeting at 2:30 p.m. in Building 350, Room 1206. The guest speaker for Aug. 11 will be Maddy Rodriquez, from the U.S. Air Force Academy, Orthopedic Osteoarthritis Clinic. Call 719-556-7153 for more information.

Society opens door to military widows
The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets 10:30 a.m. the last Wednesday of the month at the Peterson Air Force Base club. Call 597-0492 or 591-9523 for more information.
