OSI, PA to hold social media briefs 
The local Air Force Office of Special Investigation and Public Affairs staff have partnered to talk with Schriever youth about smart social media use. The next briefings will be held 5 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday. The 10 a.m. brief will target 5-12 year olds and will be held at the School Age Care Program, while the 5 p.m. brief is for 13-18 year olds and will be held in the Tierra Vista Communities meeting room. Wing holds food drive 
The 50th Space Wing is holding a food drive that will contribute to the Care and Share Food Bank. Collections are ongoing until Aug. 30 at the North and West portals, base fitness center and Building 210 atrium. For more information, contact Capt. Ronnie Sifuentes at 567-5553 or Staff Sgt. Schriever to hold Holocaust Day of Remembrance 
The Schriever community is invited to witness and experience a tribute to an important part of world history, as we honor the Holocaust Day of Remembrance. All are welcome to attend, however, the experience may be inappropriate for younger audiences. Holocaust Day of Remembrance will be held 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Tuesday in the indoor running track. Wing leadership has approved this event as an alternate duty location. To volunteer for this event or for more information, contact Chaplain (Capt.) Jennifer Ray at 567-3705.
AFPC hosts retirement webcasts
Air Force Personnel Center will host two webcasts to cover information and questions regarding retirement. The webcasts will be held 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday. The intended audience is lieutenant colonels and below, along with all enlisted personnel with approved voluntary retirement dates. Stage I fire restriction lifted
The county-wide stage 1 fire restrictions have now been lifted. While it is the case, the fire department continues to stress caution when using any open fire and or flame-producing devices. Always keep a safe area for their use and make sure to keep fire suppression items available. The sheriff’s office and other fire officials will continue to monitor weather and fire danger conditions and may enact additional restrictions if needed. Updated legal assistance hours
Until further notice, walk-in legal assistance hours are 1 - 3 p.m. every Tuesday. Notary services and powers of attorney are still available on a walk-in basis 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. on duty days. Wills are by appointment 1 - 3 p.m. Wednesdays. Contact the legal office at 567-5050 with any questions or to schedule a will appointment.

Note: The clinic closes Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. for physical training. Normal clinic hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. For emergencies, call 911. For appointments, call 524-CARE.

Schriever Diversity Day 
Please join us at this year's Diversity Day event 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 26 at the indoor running track. Enjoy amazing food and a great cultural experience. We will serve adults, but per regulations, are not allowed to physically serve food to children. The event features cultural performances and fun activities for children. Top 3 hosts ‘Schriever Debate’
The Top 3 will host "Schriever Debate" 1 – 2:30 p.m. Aug. 25 in the Building 300 auditorium. This event will follow the rules of a professional debate forum. This iteration will pit the Company Grade Officer Council against the 5/6 Council. Come out and support this great event. Some potential topics for debate may include: the new blended retirement system, women in combat, the new transgender policy, the effectiveness of the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” maternity leave extension to 12 weeks, the need for warrant officers in the Air Force and Basic Allowance for Subsistence for dorm members.
IG honors Maj. Rickie Banister’s promotion
The 50th Space Wing Inspector General office is hosting a ceremony in honor of Maj. Rickie Banister’s promotion to lieutenant colonel at 3 p.m. Sept. 1 in the Building 210 atrium. Register for Green Dot training
Registration is now open for Green Dot overview sessions (to meet the 2016 Sexual Assault Prevention and Response requirement). All personnel can register for an overview session on the FSS SharePoint. If you initially get a "denied access" error, simply press the request access link in the bottom of the error box and you will receive an email when access is granted. Classes are offered 2 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday, and 9 a.m. every Friday in the Building 300 auditorium. Class sizes are limited to 50.

Society opens door to military widows
The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets 10:30 a.m. the last Wednesday of the month at the Peterson Air Force Base club. Call 597-0492 or 591-9523 for more information.
Military Retirees Activities Office holds monthly luncheon 
The Military Retiree Activities office holds a luncheon at noon the second Thursday of each month at the Peterson Air Force Base Club, followed by its monthly council meeting at 2:30 p.m. in Building 350, Room 1206. Call 719-556-7153 for more information.
