50 SW hosts wing promotion ceremony

IG honors Maj. Rickie Banister’s promotion 
The 50th Space Wing Inspector General office is hosting a ceremony in honor of Maj. Rickie Banister’s promotion to lieutenant colonel at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Building 210 atrium. A reception will immediately follow.  Contact Master Sgt. McNeill at 567-3417 for more information.

The Schriever medical clinic will be closed the following dates/times:

IG office releases August newsletter
The 50th Space Wing Inspector General recently released their August newsletter. The topics include the Self-Assessment Program Manager’s role in the Commander’s Inspection Program, Management Internal Control Toolset update, Exercise reminder, Functional Area Manager and Innovator of the Month.


Schriever housing offers family Christian fellowship
A family Bible study will be held at the Tierra Vista Community Center 6:30-8 p.m. every Wednesday. Come join for inspiring worship, Bible study and prayer. Families are welcome. Childcare and separate kids' activities for 10 and under provided. For more info, call 567-3705.


Wing holiday party master of ceremony Tryouts
The Wing Holiday Party Planning Committee will be holding master of ceremony tryouts 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 14 in the Building 300 auditorium. If you are interested in trying out or have any questions, contact Master Sgt. Rodolfo Reyes at 567-2211.

Schriever to host POW/MIA 24-hour run
In remembrance of those who have given their freedom for ours, Schriever will be hosting a 24-hour run. The event will kick-off at 7:30 a.m. during the Sept. 15 War Fit Run, running until 7:30 a.m. Sept. 16. The run will need volunteers to support the continuous running of the POW/MIA flag during this 24-hour period, which will be broken down into 30-minute shifts. For sign-up, contact Tech. Sgt. Visit Schriever - Staff and Family Tour: Sept.  27 
Schriever Air Force Base personnel and their family members are invited on a Staff and Family Tour 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Sept. 27. Space is limited, first come first served. Children are welcome, however, the tour will include lots of stair, so strollers cannot be accommodated. The deadline to sign-up is Sept. 23. KEEP training for civilian supervisors
The Schriever Air Force Base Civilian Personnel Office is offering a Knowledge Enhanced Employee Program class for supervisors of civilian employees from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 28 in Building 210, Room 310. The class will cover topics, such as filling positions, disciplinary actions, time/attendance, 971 files and awards. To sign up for this class, contact Maggie Wander at 567-4351.   

Register for Green Dot training
Registration is now open for Green Dot overview sessions (to meet the 2016 Sexual Assault Prevention and Response requirement). All personnel may register for an overview session on the FSS SharePoint site. If you initially get a "denied access" error, simply press the request access link in the bottom of the error box and you will receive an email when access is granted. Classes are offered 2 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday, and 9 a.m. every Friday in the Building 300 auditorium. Class sizes are limited to 50 personnel.


Military Retirees Activities Office holds monthly luncheon  
The Military Retiree Activities office holds a luncheon at noon the second Thursday of each month at the Peterson Air Force Base Club, followed by its monthly council meeting at 2:30 p.m. in Building 350, Room 1206. Society opens door to military widows
The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets 10:30 a.m. the last Wednesday of the month at the Peterson Air Force Base club. Call 597-0492 or 591-9523 for more information.
